the guy was schizo...flat affect, homicidal ideations, the whole nine yards. and i don't mean that he was "fucked up", i mean he had a real psychological problem that needed treatment. his being korean has no relevance to the tragedy, aside from his parents committing suicide...
anyway--normally when someone like that comes into a psych ward with either suicidal or homicidal ideations, you keep him against his will. if you've kept up with the news you already know that this is exactly what happened--until a judge let him out the very next day.
