I've spend 2 separate years as a NEET, though technically seeking work.

All I can say it the regret of wasting one's youth on meaningless things is the ultimate kicker. I was so laid back and easygoing, but when I got to my late 20s I was suddenly like "FUUUUUUCK!!!!" I even had some borderline panic attacks when I realized how much time I'd wasted that I would never get back, still had no GF, most of my friends are off doing their own things now despite my best efforts to keep in touch with them after HS...

I know the real world doesn't look ideal, and it's not. You may not find a job that's "fun," but believe me when I say the best thing is to not sit idle, but just go out there and do something - i.e. get any job and do it seriously. You will meet people, it will renew your sense of self-worth. You'll see that you're more normal than you think for another thing.

For meeting girls, I'm no fountain of knowledge, but in hindsight, I'd much rather remember embarassing shoot-downs than the reality of not having tried at all...
