Have you heard malay language? I am sure most of you never heard this language. This language is commonly use in Brunei & Malaysia.
I used to live in Singapore and have been to Malaysia a couple of times. I used to know a bunch of curse words though they were more lika a mix of Chinese and Malay words.
i study indonesian... and i can talk with my malaysian friend pretty well, although, no slang words please lol
Most Indonesian language have same word with malay language. Just like my english teacher, he speak indonesian language and he speak well. Most foreign people speak indonesian language, speak like malay language without the indonesian slang.
Although the Malay language used in both Malaysia and Indonesia can be understood by most natives on both countries, there are differences.
For example, in Malaysia we use the word "boleh" (in English means can)while in Indonesia they use the word "bisa". and bisa in Malaysia means poison.
So, for people unfamiliar with the language of both countries this can be confusing and sometimes hilarious.
i agree with that...
hey budak melayu, where you're from?
i'm from here in penang, malaysia.
i am from kucing-meooooong mrrrowww nyaaaaan

It`d be funny if you said nyoroooon instead like
"saya dari kuching nyoro~~~n"
then everyone`d assume LOL FANG-TAN is from Malaysia.
Hey Malaysia-Jin.. I'm from Brunei.
and i'm from Shah Alam, Malaysia!!!! :)
Wouldn't it be nice to have a board on countries?
Singapore English slang has a lot of Malay words, doesn't it?
Lol Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore... USA ownz u all!
actually in piglatin its spoken:
iway amway angerousday...
for vowels, u leave it the way it is however u add -way at the end instead of just ay like dangerous for example...dangerous = angerousday =)
Konbanwa minna-san,
i'm just some malaysian who just come along here and saw all of your little discussion here.

I'll say that is true that both indonesian and malaysian language share the root and interusable at times,
but by some scolars opinion (i've forgotten his name), the (official) malay language was actually developed first in the peninsular of malaysia during the reign of The Melakan Empire before it inspired the creation of the (official) indonesian language. The (official) indonesian language known today was formed based on the core of the malay language and fused with the scores of native languages of the islands that is Indonesia.
I do really appolagize to anyone offended by my remarks here, and also to those offended by my introductio above. Any how, i'm actually a teenage malay with quiet a blend of japanese, british and arabian decent in my blood. But then, as long i'm a malaysian or a human in this world, my ethnicity isn't and shouldn't be of any consern.
With this, i bid all here goodnight and oyasuminasai.

Salam, fellow Malay bros. I'm Bruneian.
Aku inda suka melayu... Mesti buat O level untuk "Government Scholarship" di Brunei.. T.T
hello anonymous linguist... kn mau scholarship bukannya free nyanta!!! kalau free semua orang pn mau.. sama makin tia ramai orang suka take for granted! time belajar overseas... you moroon....!!!!!!!
WTF?? You dudes aren't speaking the right malay tongue, but rather in dialects. Standard malay isn't supposed to be something like this. It's much more beautiful, rather than what you dudes here are practicing -- "rojak", ever heard of that, bet Malaysians/Singaporeans do cause instead of speaking the right way of Malay, they decided to create something unnatural, much fondly known as their very own dialects -- Singlish, Manglish, etc.
Whatever, I just needed to ramble to-reasons why Malay isn't really a popular language.
Cheers.
funny... melayu language itself is criticizing it's own language and nation, think about it :
melayu as in the nation and language
malayu as in me- -layu where me- is the imbuhan and layu is the adjective
what you get?
you get the identity of the nation itself!!!
they are indeed "ME- -LAYU"!! that is, they are a wilting nation!!!
it's true that i may sound racist, but hey, i didn't ever criticize the nation nor the language, it's the language itself that does!!!
if you ever live in malaysia and you're from an objective point of view, you'll see that they are really having the usuh-tak-usuh spirit, which cause them to wilt!!
Well that's one way of looking at the word 'Melayu' itself. But then again by that logic won't 'Beruang' be 'got space' (be - imbuhan and 'ruang' - adjective) rather than a bear? Of course this pun(?) is well known among the Malay themselves and is use freely, sometimes as a reminder not to be complacent.
Some people might complain that you are using Melayu and fixing it to the nation. Make no mistake that it's 'Bangsa Melayu' and 'Negara Malaysia'. Maybe in the past when it was called 'Tanah Melayu' then you might put nation in the mix.
BTW, 'usuh-tak-usuh' or 'acuh-tak-acuh'?
it's 'acuh-tak-acuh' i just type wrong XD
i know that 'Beruang' can 'got space' but that's not what i intend to say! i'm saying that their ancestor are giving their nations' name after their way of living, that's all
Guess that's another reason why they change the nation name to Malaysia?
heck, the malays are the ones who are ruining the malay language. the stupid slang they use when they talk, nobody understands thaem. when malays talk among themselves, its a horror movie unfolding upon you.
>>34
Yes. They ruin the English language too with their weird ass grammar (which they don't try to correct)and abbreviations. Out of all the Asian overseas people speaking English, the Malaysian accent is the hardest to understand, yet they are so obnoxious about how they can apparently speak it better than other races.
