If you're learning Japanese, how much Kanji do you know?

I know eleven. I can't type them since I'm using a public computer.

  1. ichi/hito (1)
  2. futa/ni (2)
  3. san/mi (3)
  4. yo/shi (4)
  5. Mitsu/Hikari/Hikaru/Kou (Light, but Mitsu can be used for Nectar/Honey)
  6. Den (electricity)
  7. Kami (god)
  8. Ko (Child) (子)
  9. Yama (mountain)
  10. Onna (Woman)
  11. Otoko (Man)

I forgot to put one.

12. Tsuki (moon). Can be placed at the end of a number to make it a month, e.g 4(tsuki) = April

Why don't you know 日 and 本? ... lol

I think the Japanese language board scares off people who don't speak Japanese well. But you should still post Japanese-related stuff there.

Does anyone have a DS kanji dictionary? I think there's a few versions out by now. Is it a good tool for learning and looking up unfamiliar kanji? Or rather, easier/more convenient than a regular paper dictionary?

Around 400 or so.
I have the Kanji DS dictionary, and it's helped me a bunch.

I think almost 100, but it's fading because I graduated, and I'm really lazy at studying. I can't type them because I blackboxed my laptop.

Sumimasen. Sumimasen. It can mean I'm sorry, but whenever you think there's a miniscule chance you inconvenienced or bother someone, or that you're about to do so (asking a question, etc) use it. You can help heal the "rude gaijin" stereotype, one person at a time.
