Cough up the photo (23)

So I've been chatting with some girl online, for quite some time now. It isn't taking a romantic thread, but it's pretty obvious that she's interested in me in some fashion.

She keeps using the classic female whinge. You know the deal... calling herself fat, and so forth. Half the time it's right, and half the time it's just used by women who want to act like all the others. You know the kind... I have this one friend, she's about the weight of a large cat and still complains that she's fat.

Anyway, to see if she would cough up a photo, I offered up a photo of myself, but it didn't work.

I know from past experiences that any question approximating "pic plz" is likely to be reacted to with furious anger, so how the hell do I get a true look at the girl without, you know, stalking her? Do I just forget about it and keep waiting?

If she wanted to give you her picture she would, but I wouldn't force her to do it. It could possibly be that she doesn't want a stalker or that she is very self-conscience about her appearance.

obviously the photo you sent her wasn't nekkid enough!

most girls are very self-concious i guess. they try to look their best. even we guys compliment that they're looking great, girls will never be satisfied. they want to compete with those good looking celebrity like jlo, nicole kidman, **u name it, im not good with celeb's name**.

i guess its hard to get her photo. =/

It could be that she's actually a man. I'm absolutely serious.

Once a girl I met online eventually showed me a photo of herself and she was like 300 pounds : (

I never got into online relationships ever again.

I definitely don't want to force the photo out, anyway.

Even without getting out, we have plenty of female visitors to my house. Of course, that's where really dangerous crushes come in, so I have to be careful not to pay too much attention or I'll have a repeat of the last incident.

I'm a girl, and I like having friends on the Internet... I don't care if they're cute or not... But the FIRST thing I wanna see it's their picture!!! I think that's right, see the face of the person you're talking with!

Ahah I've already herd this story... It's me :D
I always say I'm not cute, fat and so on, but my internet friends say I'm totally cute XD Mad people!!!

next time she calls herself fat, tell her you doubt that she really is fat and if she insists that she is (she probably will), ask her for a picture.

I hate seeing photos of people from the internet. It spoils it because it is not what you imagined them to be...

It is sort of a conondrum. Honestly, I was thinking of putting up my photo on a site. But being shy, I hesitated. In the end, I just put my baby picture in there. The reaction I got from that was, people thought I was cute...what the hell am I supposed to think now?

Actually, the reason girls who aren't fat do it is to lower your expectations for seeing the photo, so when you expect some huge fatty and you get someone average, it seems better then expecting a beauty queen and getting someone average.

Or at least, that's the idea.

People who claim to be fat usually are.
The right course of action is to tell them to shape up because noone likes ugly people, and break off all communication until they have become presentable enough that they have enough self-esteem to give out their picture freely.

...Since when do photos work as a guarantee for that people really do look like that?

I know plenty of people who give people fake photos if they're being pestered about it but don't want to break the aquanintance off. Those people are mainly girls who are overly paranoid regarding stalkers. Tina for instance (one of my irl friends) keeps using an image of some average, completely unremarkably looking girl as her "photo". She uses it as a test. If people stop talking to her because they get dissapointed at that "she" (the photo) doesn't look good enough, she's of the opinion that they can go to hell. She's fed up with shallow guys irl who just start talking with her because of her boobs and face. Can't blame her, though. Must suck hard to be a pretty gamer geek girl. The last guy she dated, an actual gamer, ditched her because he kept getting beaten in virtually all games by her, and he kept feeling so bloody insecure he kept accusing her for being unfaithful all the time (which she never was).
Another case of false photos is a guy I know, he's a MTF bloke who can't muster up the guts to come out to his family and start living the way he wants to, because virtually all of his current friends and family are likely to shun him. So he keeps living out his desire to be real girl online. Needless to say, he uses five photo of (the same person,) a realistically pretty (but not exceptionally pretty) girl as photo ID for his female persona.

Even webcamming can be faked, but that is far more difficult and more rare than photo fraud. So if you really want to be sure that the person is visually who he/she seems to be, then have a webcamming session! Toss in some voice-convo over perhaps Skype or similar, and it can be rather fun.
