How to get over someone (7)

Right, basically I met a girl, a friend of a friend, so we started hanging out in our group of mutual friends. I started to like her more than as a friend, and I got the impression she felt the same. However, one night she told me that she had a big crush on me when we first met (but she didn't say if she still felt that way or not) but then another night she kept going on about how I'm such a good friend and that she trusts me, knows we could sleep in the same bed without anything happening etc. Soooo I've tried to kind of back off a bit in case she thought I was coming off really clingy. But its got to the point where I think nothing is going to happen (Well, maybe some drunken one nighter but thats not what I want with her) so I should just go back to being friends with her. But I'm finding it really hard. With my other female friends I can joke with them about their boyfriends, their dates etc but with this girl if she just mentions that she has a date, or met a cute guy at work, then I can feel myself getting uncomfortable and hot. She doesn't say those things to me on my own though, it comes up in a group conversation and I have no idea what to say so I just kinda sit there and try to look busy. I think she's picked up on the fact I liked her in the past and is now worried that if I come along on nights out in town with her I will make a move on her or something stupid like that - which I'm not going to do. But it means my friends who are friends with her haven't been getting in touch to find out if I want to come out in town at the weekends.

Now, my question is how to get over this girl. I know time helps, and it has been quite a while since the whole friendship conversation etc, but it hasn't been enough. Normally I would probably just meet another girl, take my mind off the first girl by having a few fun dates (even if they dont lead anywhere). But right now I don't want a girlfriend because I commute to university and its my final year, only a few months to go. So I figure I should focus solely on my work for the next couple of months. But I still get annoyed about this girl, and how she seems to be giving me mixed messages even though I'm past caring about whether we actually date. What does /love/ suggest I do? I just thought maybe I could do some of those mantra-type chants, self-affirmations I think they are called. So something like repeating "X is a good friend and I don't mind just being her friend".

Also, I've decided to make myself kind of uncontactable - e.g. not coming online, setting my phone to divert all calls. So I can only receive texts if somebody really needs to get in touch. I've been trying to put space between us so that she sees I don't care about dating her, but it doesn't seem to be working. So what do you guys think will happen if I stay uncontactable for a few weeks?

I don't see another post on the front page about how to get over someone, but thanks anyway

Does it have to be on the front page?

To get over someone: keep yourself busy, so busy you wont have the time to think about them.

I can manage to keep busy, but it seems that still when we are hanging out with friends there is still an awkwardness in the situations I've described. Oh well, keeping busy is good anyway :)

Sadly, alcohol can be a temporary solution.
