Translation changes I've come across:

That's just translating it so that English speakers know what it means. Us manga otaku's should know what "gao!" means.
"Pants man" was always awkward. And "GAO" is "ROAR" in English, although personally I might have used something like "GRARR".

I wondered more at the change in Fuuka's reaction to the whole thing. From a "haha, this is crazy" to the somewhat angrier "what kind of idiotic game is this?".

Well, it's just "ahahaha baka da...", which I'd read as "Ahahahah, idiots..." or "Ahahahah, an idiot...", literally. I guess it might mean "this is dumb" too, but to my admittedly untrained eye, it seems more likely to refer to the people than the situation.
In the last chapter where they talk about how Okinawa makes you think of nothing, it seems like there's a pun that got lost somewhere.

Well, after reading through it, some of it was better than the fan translations, some of it was not as good. Overall, good enough. I liked how they handled Yotsuba's mispronounciations (except for "Asage", but that might be a lost cause), for instance. Momotato's translation of Jumbo's outburst when he met Asagi was more awkward, but in context it worked better that way.
But what's with the "Fuka"? "Fūka" or "Fuuka" are correct, but "Fuka" is just WRONG.

What is Yotsuba's dad's job?
So why would it be problem that he is a translator in Chapter 24, or does it have to do with trainspotting?
In chapter 7, Yotsuba says his job is "Konnyakuya" (Konnyaku chef) instead of "Honnyakuya" (Translator). So in chapter 24, Fuuka asks him questions about making Konnyaku...
That bit isn't going to make a whole lot of sense now they've replaced it with "Train-spotter".
I would have to say that is the problem with adapting anything that isn't completed, but I am sure they will manage something or let rewrite histroy.
Well, I don't think that a translation has to be literal to be good, it just has to transport the meaning of the original into another language and preserve the original consistency while doing that. I don't think you can do that if you constantly ignore all the puns in the original.
The problem now is that when Fuuka asks Yotsuba's dad later, the question is clearly about food/diet, I don't know how they would be able to rewrite "trainspotter" into having something to do with food... I fear that they will just completely rewrite the whole joke, so that it doesn't refer to Yotsuba's earlier mistake anymore - I feel that either solution would be a loss, though.

I don't think anyone's gotten it yet. We might have to ask the Japanese or something.

There's nothing there. -> But "Nothing" is a thing that is there.
I got that much, but thought that there might be a play on the kanji or pronounciation.
I think it has more to do with a mindset of the Okinawans, but I could be wrong.

It doesn't really make a difference if they added the extra u or not, it can be spelled either way in english.
Only if you are being really, really lazy about romanization. As I said, "Fūka" or "Fuuka" make sense (hell, even "Huuka"), but "Fuka" is just dumb.
"Fuka" seems likely to be mispronounced as "Fucker".
