From the beginning to the ending of Monaco Cup storyline it was quite funny. Later it became a bit boring, but a good read nonetheless. But now I started reading vol 18... WHAT IS THIS ***! Shameless inserts of ads (pepsi cola, "gohan desu yo") in manga are just wrong. Okay, m&a is not only art, it's popular culture, it has to make money, but what Takashi Hashiguchi did is crossing the line. For me, this is the end of JaPan.
I agree with your opinion, too.
This comic would not be disappointed by serious reader, if it was written as a complete
gag manga from the start of the story. A serious reader would not take an attention to it.
The biggest mistake was that it started as a cooking confrontation manga with a little gag.
At the beginning, he had many informations about bread and cooking that his staff had
researched. However, the latter half, his informations run at almost a bottom then he
run for a gag that he got used to it.
A complaint begins to appear in story in a customer review of the Amazon from vol.17
and "stop the waste comics "are full of opinions now.
Anyway it is pity that only a few manga which end is good.
What's wrong with "gohan desu yo"?
Apparently it's a real product, and Hashiguchi made a whole volume of story just to advertise it.
I cannot be thought that this comic is can be published in foreign countries.
Because this comic is composed of the gag that parodies Japanese langage.
Is it corrected well in an overseas version?
By the way, it is agreement of everybody for the policy of the comic.
I have only read scanlations, where they don't translate puns to English, just explain them. I don't know how it was done in official American translation.
Oh, I thought the TC had a problem with someone saying the phrase (like saying, "It's dinner time!").

The Japanese puns are usually replaced with english equivalents, or explained in footnotes when it's impossible to translate with the same meaning.
>>6
Indeed, official American translation is very interesting for me.
thanks.

Certainly I also consent if there are replacing or footnotes when I read foreign comic.
I was anxious because I had seen the article that
"Person who translated Dragonball in France said that the translation of the pun was very difficult. "
the tendency is especially strong for this comic so I was felt that it might be seemed to be unkind in foreign countries.
thanks.
So far the translation of the puns has been useless.
