i think this is the worst piece of crap ever produced. i simply dont understand how someone with such crappy art skills can get pubished. it looks like it's unfinished, and the story's shitty too. its just about some nerds going to tokyo. weeaboos.
I don't get it either
its humbly shitty, thats why its good, and people with simple tastes like it.

I don't understand why people revere Fred so much. I mean, sure his pencils are nice, but there are people who do just as good pencils, ink, and color, do it just as often (or more often) and are doing it part time?
He really needs to get his shit together...
I wonder if his stuff that's being published in Faust is gonna be all penciled shit.
>>7
Almost certainly.
Seriously, MT is the man's full time job. He only has to post 3 4-panel comics per week. Why can't he update and write decent scripts again? I forgive Randy Milholland (Something Positive) for his late updates because he delivers when he finally posts, and usually ends up doing 6 panel or multiple comics when he gets really far behind.
I have no clue where MT is going now. It used to have a coherent script, and be funny, now, it's confusing, odd, and well, convoluted. And this is his full time job like >>8 said.
megatokyo used to be l337 and funny. now it's just drama
Yeah, that's exactly why I stopped at volume 3. I just couldn't take it anymore with all the cruddy art and even crappier story, and there's just a way better selection of manga out there that's waiting to be read.
I agree... he really needs to get his crap together. e___e
right now im interested in zombies, thats pretty much it. not the shitty weeabo drama going on
sexylosers.com has a comic about a masturbation class. each student is told to bring a poster to fap off too. One has a map of Japan. Instructor asks WTF? Friend explains he is a Megatokyo fan.
The problem with it is that Fred's not funny. It's a real shame that Rodney left because what started as a hilariously outrageous plot now has transformed into something that only attempts funny occasionally and, even then, almost always fails horribly.
However it does one good thing well. it keeps the annoying moron wannabe otaku from worshiping the manga that is actually good. (The same goes for webcomics as well. I don't want idiots in my Sluggy and 8-Bit forums.) And that purpose it serves amazingly well.
>>15 Agreed
I went back and read up to the most recent episodes last summer, and all I can say is that the story is completely wound up in a web of confusion.
It really doesn't seem like there's any planning at all, more like he has his core of readers and keeps the plot twists up to keep them coming back to his site / store.
I liked it at first. Now it's frustratingly convoluted. I don't mind drama, it just has to be well done. There's too much shit going on, too many story threads. You can spend weeks reading about one character, and then suddenly you're back to another and you've forgotten what they were even doing. It's like he's trying to jam as many different genres into one crappy story as possible. I suspect that he doesn't even have an outline, and agree with what >>16 says.
I wish I could stop reading it.
Did you guys think that maybe we just grew out of it?
I could point out a lot of stupider manga that people like a lot more.
i liked it a lot when it was a penny arcade knock-off. now its crap.
i think Megatokyo is a pretty cool guy
eh draws sad girls in snow and doesn't afraid of anything
If you don't like it then don't read it. No one's making you go there 3 times a week.
Naruto...
I like the first vol. but after that, I never reallygot into it. And I agree with [>>25] that is far worst.
>>26
naruto's target audience are little kids, so does that still count?
Megatokyo's target audience is losers who sit around surfing the internet all day from their mom's basement. Both groups are kinda meh.
>>27
No, because regardless of the target audience, stupid is stupid.
>>29
oh come on!
a good chunk of the people must have enjoyed dragonball z when they were kids.
I enjoyed it as an adult, but it was still stupid.
Wow, is MT still even going? My friends and I used to read this waaaaaaaay back then...up until the point Piro released his third bound volume. MT kept on going like it was a shit-covered katamari.
The problem I have with Megatokyo is the same problem I have with every other gaming/otaku strip that starts out silly and fun and turns into a full-blown drama/love dealie - that shit just doesn't work. The only reason Megatokyo is so unique is that it's STILL FUCKIN GOING. Atleast the other ones had the decency to end.
I like Megatokyo. I think the plots getting really good at the moment; I hated chapter 0 though I liked the random references to Ayu! The art gets much better later on.
