I speak Spanish and learned English as a second language in the US. I love Spanish and I enjoy being able to speak other languages. I am trying to learn Japanese. Any language is unique and beautiful in its own way. Shall we say the America speaks English due to the English colonizing the north part of America. Otherwise you would be speaking Spanish too. :)

First of all Taco Bell isnt real mexican food. Second of all Mcdonalization is a term used to describe the western world's spread of everything. Everything is becoming more and more western. If you grew up with english, it's easy to communicate in english. Most other languages just have a completely different grammer structure.
I'm from Indonesia, and the language is using alphabet too, so we're not hard to learn english. Altought my english still low, I think I can understand quite.

actually you are not really forced to use kanji, since you can just write in hiragana/katakana. but then you should use spaces to make it more readable.

Japanese can tell 聞いた from 来た naturally, but cannot "r" from "l" lightly.

im philipino when i was little i accepeted a lot of japanese customs becuz of tv dramas. see back when i was young on t.v. they had alot of japanese dramas and koren dramas i watched a lot of japanese dramas (alot of them were very funny) and eventually spoke japanese broken. but when i moved to amerika it was hard to learn but when i got it down i noticed something. i think it is more easier to write in english because it has one alphabet with 26 letters but its hard to get it grammerticuly ( like sentence structure) correct thats what makes it hard. i think japanese is easy to speak becuz it dosent have the sentence additives (like preps,adj,adv,conj,verb sub agreement, etc.)but writing is hard becuz they have 3 alphabets and kanji is fubar with like the 100,000 symbols and counting

Spanish won't do; The english and the spanish R are very different. The english R is closer to the french R. Spanish actually has two R sounds.
One of them is exactly the same as the japanese sound, we maigh call it the "Soft R". It is the sound in "María" an in "yaranaika".
The second R sound, the "strong R" is rolled very strongly. It is used at the beginning of any word starting with r (e.g; "Rosa"), and is also the sound represented by two rr together in a word (e.g. "Carro"). I believe i've heard it in the japanese language when they feign a strong foreign accent.
Forgot to add this; the american english also has the soft R sound of spanish, but actually, it replaces a t sound. The sound of the capital t in "i'm noT a puppet" might usually be pronounced as the spanish soft R sound.
But yeah, try listening lots of english. British english would be a good start; it's way easier to understand than american english.
All japanese students study American english but not British. British english have pretty strong accents compared with american.
Learn English in a Scottish/Irish dialect.
I studied British english, but it's only important for written works. Speaking wise, I think each country has their own accent, but I find it easier to understand American spoken english than others due to accents.
