I'm sick of following 10+ volume manga; I can't afford it and don't find it satisfying. I want to read some one shots or very short (4 or less volumes) series, but I don't know what's out there. I'm open to any genre but detest heavy fan service. Can anyone give me directions?
Alien Nine is 4 volumes (3 for the main story + 1 sequel.) Its plot makes very little sense but it's a neat ride.
A friend recommended Shoulder-a-Coffin Kuro to me recently. It's 2 volumes, I think.
Hotel and Present from Boichi are pretty good oneshots
Well, He Is My Master is pretty good, I'm sure you've already read that though... and if you like yuri there's always Strawberry Panic! Which has a pretty decent story line...
Akira is 6 volumes, in case you still didn't read it...
Short Cuts
The only problem with one shots is that if they're really, really good, people want more, and if they make more, it turns it all to shit.
Shirley.
Lets see...
Legal Drug is pretty good.
I really liked In The End, I'd love a sequel, but I don't think it will happen, however, amazon and tokyopop beg to differ.
Firecracker is Melancholy (Short Tempered Melancholy in the USA) is cute, as is ION. Both are by Arina Tanemura (I'm a big Arina fan), Under the Glass Moon is nice if you don't mind that volume 3 was never released. I was pretty mad when I found that out. ^^;
Fall in Love like a Comic is amazing, and only 2 volumes. Disgaea is a great one shot.
If you like the novel series things, .hack//AI Buster is good and 2 volumes, .hack//Another Birth is good too. It's 4 volumes.
Psht, barely any of the above mentioned are one shots =___=
Ass, Legal Drug is 3 volumes THAT GOT STALLED---CLAMP said it was actually supposed to run for 15 volumes total. Oneshot my ass.
I wonder if it got stalled because they realised it would result in too much yaoi.
FLCL is good, only 2 volumes too
Subarashii Sekai (What a wonderful world) is quite a nice one.
Fell in love with the stories and the art immediately.
Got them both lying in my book shelf, but I think I saw them translated somewhere else.
>>11 I doubt that CLAMP is worried about yaoi.... or else they would have canceled Card Captor Sakura due to the rampant Touya/Yukito thing. All their series have produced copious male/male pairings.
Read GirlxGirlxBoy, the scanlation is online if you check Baka Manga Updates. It's a really cute oneshot, as long as you're not homophobic to the cute girl/girl action.
mangatraders has an entire section for oneshots, it's pretty cool
lol that makes so much sense.
this is sort of unrelated, but look at the shows with hundreds of episodes like pokemon or dragon ball z.... repetitive as hell my god o.O and i hate to put this next one in there, but Inuyasha is repetitive.... but not as bad... and yes, i like Inuyasha im not bashing it -_-'
Densha otoko (Train man) is 3 volumes. and if some on wants to read it heres the link
Jisatsu club
the art isnt great...but I suppose thats intentional
synopsis:
"A disturbing manga inspired by an even more disturbing movie of the same name (aka Suicide Club). As you might expect, they both deal with the theme of suicide. However, the plots of the manga and movie are significantly different, so don't wory about spoilers and such. Finally, I'd just like to point out that the manga isn't for the faint of heart, and the movie even more so."
I just finished reading, its one-shot indeed
not quite disturbing I've seen worse stuff...
dunno about you
