Telephony from the guy who brought us Kazaa... http://www.skype.com
Anyone know if this is on the level? It says it has no malware, so ostensibly the only way they're turning a profit is by selling computer-to-telephone credits (computer-to-computer is free)... Is this true? I'm going to be going overseas next month, and it'd be great if I could set this up on both my and my parents' computers and communicate using this instead of expensive international phone calls -- but if it's going to tear a hole in my parents' machine and riddle it with malware just as Kazaa did when my dumbass stepbrother installed it, we'll have to think of another idea...
I have used it a couple of times. It works. I didn't notice any malware in the version I used (1.0.0.106). Both sides need a mike and some kind of headphones, of course. And making sure that the mike volume level isn't set to zero(!).
I have friends who use this regularly and save a lot of money from it.
its good.
the guy who made that and made kazaa wasn't responsible for putting the spyware in kazaa... the decision was made against his wishes.
