Raids (7)

Raids (yes, the oft-rightly ridiculed sort generated by 4chan and such) used to be a lot better.

Okay, most sucked, but occasionally someone skilled could elicit a funny response from AsianBabeCams or Linksys, ChaCha, whatever. Then along came Habbo Hotel.

Habbo raids were great, regardless of one's general stance on the subject. Not only did they generate classic raid amusement, but they presented it in a visual manner. You could SEE just how damn many swarms of afro'ed black men in tuxes were blocking the pool, and by God, that was amusing in and of itself!

Unfortunately, it was a bit too amusing, and as you all probably know, led in part to the wonderful /b/day/Grey Area fiasco. This in turn spawned 7chan and it's wonderful little /i/ board. I can't speak for the status of this board currently, if it still exists (it's certainly not displayed,) but 420chan's at least is shit. Granted, this may just be 420chan in general, but I think it pervades the sort of thoughts anyone who would visit a /i/.

These people raid forums and myspace users. Why I don't particularly know. Yeah, sticking a bunch of naked guys on some guy's profile and infecting his computer with a virus may be fun and all--or, it would be, if you had some prior intent of exacting revenge on him. However, since the "not your personal army" horn is often tooted, I must assume these attacks are at random. Why? It's boring, really. Maybe once it could be somewhat amusing, but certainly after the first time such raids would have lost their appeal. Not nearly as much demonstrable humor is created; you can't see your victim's frustration easily, which would be the only really tangible fun in such things. Even if so, they all look the same.

However, this is surprisingly all that /i/ consists of.

Why can't the web generate anything on the scale of Habbo anymore?

tl;dr: 420chan sucks.
