So, in America you have 4chan.org. In Japan you have 2chan.net, aka Futaba Channel. These are two epicenters of Internet culture. They have many imitators, but no replacements.
There are a few technical differences. For example, 2chan.net only allows posts from within Japan, and the way posts link to each other is a little different. Board names don't look like directory names in the UI. It's not even obvious whether 2chan's /b/ is "random" like 4chan's /b/; maybe they keep their camwhores and funny photoshops and inane mems in another board.
And unlike their text-based counterparts, there's little exchange between the two. 4chan's /b/ occasionally hosts a "go to 2chan and post what you find there" thread, but it seldom lives long. 4chan has a prominent notice on every page in Japanese reminding people to post in English, but either Japanese people don't post to 4chan or the notice works extremely well.
Has anyone spent enough time at 2chan to explain what kind of memetic gold may lie there?
We've already harvested the best stuff and claimed it as our own.
If that's the best stuff, then what's the WORST stuff?
What did 4chan's /b/tards look at and think "no, that is too disgusting or nonsensical for us."
You see "lurk moar" every day, but someone actually does it and they get B&?
There was a 2chan-4chan exchange last night. A lot of people got banned because of it. What happened?
I only caught the back end of it after the child pornography salvos had been done away with. 4chan anonymous were mostly confined to a single thread where they were posting photomanips of women with penises on their breasts and ridiculous things like that. A couple 2chan toshiaki were also posting in that thread, but most were elsewhere complaining about how the mods are fags (that may have been related to something else entirely though). Or something like that.
I saw that thread, but there were a couple of other 2chan threads. They got ignored pretty much, because it's noon on e aweekday over there.
I think there was one thread that was mostly 4channers who could type Japanese. It started out with South Park's Al Gore pointing at a diagram of some creepy Animaniacs fanart, and said "I like cartoons." Then someone posted a smiling cat and said "I like cats." Then someone posted some catgirl and said "I like cats and anime." And it continued in that fashion. I wonder if anyone archives that sort of thing.
wtf is this shit?
I doubt the Nihonjin even care about 4chan.
THEN WE'LL MAKE THEM CARE

Do you know Overchan@Futaba ?
You can find it in the Wakachan side-bar under "Experiment".
For the origin of the board see :

It's confusing when you say 2chan to refer to Futaba. Just say Futaba, please.
