I'm working tech support for a cable broadband company, and people are doing the dumbest damned things. Why can't they get with the program?
If they were to 'get with the program', you'd be out of a job.
QED
So what's the dumbest "problem" you've been presented with?
Well, this one guy wanted to get cable internet.
Talk about dumb.
Maybe you should quit.
It's just a suggestion.
>So what's the dumbest "problem" you've been presented with?
"Could you tell me what version of Windows you have?"
"Is that the monitor, or the thing under the desk?"
>Maybe you should quit
I'm A+ Certified, but all the places I've sent my resume for an IT position want experience.
you havent worked tech support for very long have you
Ah...
What would they do without you?
This is what Tech Support is for, after all.
Seriously though, you are in a position of power, a golden Prometheus bearing the secrets of IT. After talking with you this poor ignorant creature might actually know what his operating system is, at least somewhat.
I'm also impressed by how dumb some people get. I have a feeling it's usually people in the older generation asking them. I'm looking forward to the day when us growing up with IT as a fact of life take over :D
It's like people are scared to learn or something. Twice I've caught myself telling customers, "Don't worry, the computer won't bite you."
But then they'll be no easy tech-support jobs. ;_;
Thousands of careers founded off of the ignorance of the masses will be lost.

Do like the staples commercials and tell them to push their 'Easy' buttons.
Sounds like a euphemism for masturbation.
Tell them to press F1 once in a while.
