"About 80 percent of [Redmond's] Microsoft employees who have a portable music player have an iPod,"
"Even though it's Microsoft, no one is interested in what we have to offer, even our own employees."
"The Microsoft manager said he's heard from several executives who dutifully bought Microsoft-powered players, tried them, failed to get them working, and returned them in favor of an iPod. He went through the same experience, he said."

heh, i must be the complete opposite.

at the moment i'm quite fed up with XP and converting all my PCs except my gaming PC to linux...
yet i still have no real interest in an ipod, because i love my microsoft smartphone (with an add-on player program that supports OGG Vorbis) as a music player too much... it'll be even better when i ditch my 256mb mini-sd soon and get a now-cheap 1GB card for it <3

Ah, but that's a phone, not a stand-alone. Maybe the standalones don't perform as well.
MS hardware's quality isn't very consistent in general. I loved the old MS-mouse 209.77.251.199/wp-content/msmouse2.0.jpg and was saddened when it broke and that I couldn't buy a new one anymore. Its replacement - the intellimouse - was crap IMO. Too small for my hand, not adapted for a right hand, a surface too slippery, and the optical tracker didn't like my desk surface.
