The hilarious part was that this was entirely foreseeable.

Back in 2001, on jolly old Sept. 11, I realised war was probably going to happen. Bush proved me right. Then he started rattling his sabre at Iraq. I remember discussing the outcome of this with a relative. Everything we concluded in a thirty minute conversation while walking through a forest has come to pass, or is well on its way. Moderates becoming extreme? Foresaw that too.

Here's the kicker: neither of us is a political analyst, nor particularly familiar with the region. We're not historians. We're not old enough to have absorbed much experience through out lives. We're just a couple of students who had been following what was going on in Afghanistan.

So either it's bloody obvious to anybody who pauses to reflect on it, or I should make my fortune gambling because I'm one lucky SOB.
