One of this guy's major issues is the one-child policy. As far as I'm concerned, the one-child policy was a very good call when it was instituted. The government knew the country couldn't increase the amount of food it was producing fast enough to keep pace with the rise in population. They had to do something about it. This policy is one component of a highly successful effort to improve the lives of over a billion people. For a nation that was once routinely subject to disasters that could kill millions, getting rid of the threat of famine is a major accomplishment.
Whatever. I'm sure a weird combination of hippies and right-wingers are going to climb over themselves to make this guy into their saint. Remember kids: saints are guilty until proven innocent. I'm not buying this guy at all. Not yet, anyway.
