How can "cruft" be translated into Japanese?
英語意味:http://catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/C/cruft.html
One guess I had was 瓦落多 (がらくた) but I am not sure.
BTW, クラフツ is not what I want.
層垢?
er... make that 垢層

Funny. 垢層 is 「クソウ」.
Cruft is also used for any sort of junk, or something which is old and works strangely.
I have a directory called ''random-cruft'' where I keep text files with ethernet addresses, phone numbers, コピペ, quotes, scripts, five-line C programs, and other things that don't belong anywhere else. They would clutter up my home directory, but I want to keep them for some reason. So they are "cruft".
Seeing as how it's not even a real English word as such, translating is going to take a bit of luck or cleverness.
The etymology seems to point to it as a corruption of "crust", in which case "layers of dirt" would seem to work.
Best way might be to find an in-betweener and ask 2ch's hacker boards what they call bloat, leftover code & files, the crap that builds up on a frequently used Windows system and necessitates an OS reinstall every six months, etc. Could be something totally different.
垢層 is pretty good
Google gives 8 hits for 垢層 when searching Japanese only.

瓦落多なんて書き方はしないけどな。

層 is a suffix. I guess it's not very commonly used in combination with 垢 but I don't think it's intrinsically incompatible.
