I am a Japanese, but Perl is more difficult than learning Japanese...

Japanese is pretty damn hard. At least I had learned Finnish before trying to learn Japanese, so I had already gotten rid of my Indo-European language preconceptions.

Perl, on the other hand, is not hard to learn to use. Learning the entire language, now that is hard.

Perl is not hard to learn to write. It is at least as hard as Japanese to learn to read. And as for speaking Perl, well that's far beyond Japanese in difficulty.
