School or what else (5)

I've been thinking recently whither I should stay in school or do something else. I can't make the decision so I just stay in school and now I am almost failing out. Right now I am studying Bio in school so that I may get a good job when I graduate and help me mother out with bills. I also would like to help my friend who is becoming disabled because of MS. Seeing him with MS is making me think of what I should do with my life. Should I stay in school like the rest of my family or quit. If I were to quit I could probably do a internship as a electrician or something and start making $20 a hour or I could use my talents as a guitarist and start a band. Starting a band is a risk but if it were to come through, I would be able to make enough money to help my mother out and help towards MS research so that one day my friend can wake up and feel the right side of his body (at least I could make a statement about it and make it more widely known). For now, all I can do for my mother is send her the little money I get from working at school (which the school sometimes takes away because I am poor and can't really afford school) and give my friend marijuana (slows the synapses so that his mind slowly decays). I feel like I am wasting my life going to school and doing the tasks so that I graduate and get a job that wouldn't allow me to achieve my goal of helping MS, AIDS, and other incurable disease patents (due to funding and the government). I realize this more and more everyday that there are other choices then going to school but I am pressured by my family and society to go or I am a "loser". After my friend's family member died this past Sunday (I lived with them before I left for school) I thought about what I am doing with my life. Is this were I am suppose to be or is there something else for me? What is your opinion? (I understand if you sage this)

First of all, you need more paragraphs. This gave me a headache to read.

Second of all, you need to realize this: you won't be able to help MS, AIDs, and other incurable disease patients any time soon, dear. Even if you did become extremely rich and donate millions of dollars to research, it wouldn't guarantee anything. Do not start a band. It's a terrible idea, and even if it does come through, it won't be the MAGICAL SOLUTION to all your problems that you seem to think it is.

If you quit school now, keep in mind that it will probably be even harder to find a job that can support both your mother and your friend. I don't mean to sound mean, but there's very little chance of your friend living to see a cure for MS. He's doomed. You can take care of him, but you won't be able to save him. Don't get any crazy ideas that you can change this fact.

Now, all things aside, the most important question is: what do you enjoy doing? Do you enjoy Biology? Do you have a passion for guitar playing? Forget about your family and your friend for just a moment. Indulge a little, be selfish! What do you want to do with your life? Only you can answer this. Don't let your family (or your friend!) answer it for you.

> He's doomed.

You don't have to be so blunt.

Starting a band is a horrible idea. I agree with >>2, Do not start a band. You should stay in school, most people in school getting their bachelor's or even associates don't know what they are going to do until they get out. It's pretty much necessary to get a degree in this age unless you enjoy manual labor.

I think you are right and will try to figure this out.
Thank you very much you bluntness has helped and inspired me.
