Vomitting (12)

Everytime I eat, I invariably vomit up small chunks of food as I eat. Basically I'll take a few bites, regurgitate a bit of food, and continue eating. My doctor diagnosed it as an odd medical condition, but it has no adverse side affects. I don't feel or taste it, it just pops out almost like a hairball. People find it disgusting though, it makes me incredibly unpopular, people refuse to eat near me. Halp.

well i think you should do it in a way others don't notice. Like eating slowly, with mouth closed and of course no sounds.

gross, although there's no way you wouldn't taste that bile.

That happens to everyone, but not every meal time?

But usually it's those rare occurances, like you're waiting down the street, then you throw up a little inside your mouth, and have this panicked "WTF?!" going off in your head.

Then you swallow it and keep walking.

waiting=walking

It's different than throwing up in your mouth. It's really not like vomit, more like hairballs of food. It's not like my body digests it in 5 seconds and spits it back up. And even if I close my mouth, it reflexually opens. I forget what the condition is called.

Could it be a tourettes tick?

I once saw a program of a guy who had coprophalia. While he was eating, he'd swear (His tick) and spew food around the table.

I wonder if it's similar to that.

OP is a bird.

Just excuse yourself and eat alone, perhaps. Cover your mouth if you must eat with others.
Is there some type of food that won't trigger this?
I've never heard of such a condition, and I doubt the odds are good of someone else posting here having the same thing.
More people than you might think have something that causes social difficulties, and they just have to adapt.

Wow, damn.

Terms like "vomit" and "digest" seem inappropriate, it rather sounds like your esophagus forces your food back up to your mouth instead of forcing it down to your stomach like it should.

You know those situations when you try to eat but there are many people around (like in a subway or on a bus) and you feel like they're watching you? Every few times you swallow, you feel that the food in your esophagus is "stuck" and you have to wait for it to get down to your stomach.

Is it anything like that or am I misinterpreting?

Sounds like your peristalsis is working in reverse. I think you should get a second opinion, random muscle spasms in your throat that impact your social life is not something you should sit back and let happen.

Yup, second opinion. It might be a nervous tic or somehing physical.
