I've been feeling bad about not complimenting others on web forums for their artworks. By that what I mean is that later, when I post my own works, it feels like they're ostracizing me for not having been previously gentle enough. But then when I start writing a compliment or a comment I'll feel like I'm acting like someone better or more knowledgeable than I really am and proceed to delete the draft.

Actually this has also happened in real life in the past, but seeing how it's only a very minor factor among everything that makes me socially inept there, I'm more concerned about my fake, brief relationships with people from other continents.

how come leaving a comment would mean acting as someone better than you are? If you have a feeling, an opinion, you might as well share it. People post their stuff to get feedback, if you can provide it, that's perfect. No need to feel too self conscious about that.

Looks like you are really too self-conscious. Be more relaxed about things, and speak up your mind. The more often you do it, the easier it will get. Practice makes perfect, just for artworks.
