Hello world, please don't think I'm arrogant because of this post, I just read so many things here that make me feel so sad... I feel like i should really try and help out everyone with some major guidelines.

So I'm just going to write down some things that I started doing when mildly depressed/paranoid etc. Well, of course that it is my method but I hope some of you can take advantage from these thoughts. It is important to mention that these are things I started doing after having a series of nervous breakdowns and excluding myself from reality, the only way I could solve that problem was by taking brain-killing medication for some time, but it worked and paid off.

Please, if you feel really bad just go see a psychiatrist and take your medication. Remember that if you don't truly open up with your psychiatrist you won't ever have the proper medication to take, and without further ado, here are my advices on how to avoid serious paranoia/depression.

---------------------------------------------------

Things to do when you AREN'T feeling bad:

Don't think about your problems when you are feeling down, think about them when you are lucid and capable of seeing things clearly, this helps a lot because you will be able to avoid exaggerating.

In order to understand your problems you must understand yourself, therefore: your past; everything is connected and your current existence is an accumulation of experiences and stimulus.

Keep your head cool! Before thinking about your past convince yourself that those things are indeed in the past and that they are long gone, remember a few things like: children and teenagers and unconsciously evil because of peer pressure and another important thing to remember is that most people that are nasty to you aren't so because of you, they are nasty because they are naturally nasty (either to everyone, or sometimes just to people who don't think the same way they do, or people who are smarter than them, etc).

Overall, be rational and try to think things through with a clean mindset.

Things to do when you ARE feeling bad:

Do you ever listen to music when you are feeling bad ? If so, good. But try not to listen to things that make your feelings more intense in the long run... What I mean is, if you are feeling like mankind sucks you shouldn't listen to a song that says that mankind sucks, that's just conforming to your feelings and accepting your issues.
Of course, this is an example and mankind does kinda suck, but remember that you aren't destined to suck because you too are a human.

Are you feeling aggressive ? Punch some things, wear yourself out physically, it works, of course that this is not a good things to do regularly, this is just a way to ventilate your anxieties and obsessions when you are feeling really really bad.
A good way to avoid aggressive thoughts is to do martial arts, for example, but not a martial art where you just punch and kick someone silly and overdevelop your body, go for one that teaches you discipline of both mind and body.

Don't talk to people you don't know well enough about your issues.
Don't talk to people who have issues about your issues.
Talk to people who you've known for quite a few years and that are close to you, someone who can think about your past with her and really help you out.

And that's all I can really remember... Just a few more things, practical ones:

Does noise irritate you ? Use headphones.

Conforming is bad because you'll get worse and worse.

Accepting your issues doesn't mean it is ok to have them, they are still issues.

Do you specifically hate some kind of person a lot ? It might be just because they are annoying or stupid, but it might also be because they are what you want to be, or it could just be a matter of projection (they are the things you hate in yourself, but which you don't realize are in you).

At all times: keep your head cool, be rational about life and society, remember who you are.
Society affects you, the World affects you, but you can decided the way they affect you, mold your view of the world to something that favors you.

I hope these things help someone and... Speak out your thoughts, let's make this an advice thread! Talk about your experiences and what you did to convalesce. Please ask me any questions you want or just diss me.

Learn to judge yourself more objectively. It's more important to identify your good spots than the bad ones. Identify the occasions when you did well, and think of how you can do even better. If you can't find those times, you're not trying hard enough, and must try harder.

We are all evil, it's a question of context. Learn to modify the contexts in which people behave against you.

Exercise and go outdors. Best brain-dead medication against frustration, depression and gloomy feelings.

Better to fail, than not to try. Success results from learning from your mistakes, and you need to fail to make mistakes.

I'm not saying you should focus or care more about your bad spots but... I just want to point out that it is also important! If you don't think your bad points over you won't ever be able to realize who you truly are and therefore you won't be able to help yourself.

It is indeed really important to objectify oneself.
