Annoying sister? (21)

1 Name: Anonymous : 2010-06-29 14:55 ID:qePGdzne

Before anything I don't want you guys to think I'm dissing on my sister. She's a good person, we do have good moments. But some things she does are VERY irritating flaws and I merely come for advice on how to handle that properly.

My sister is pissing me off so much that my first thought would be to slap her. She's tested my patience so much she's gotten whacked before, but now I've been avoiding anything of that sort from happening.

[Swearing alert in post and it's long]

She is spoilt, she won't agree with it, but she gets people at home to do things for her. She won't even flick a switch if it's a few feet from her. And expects people to fetch stuff for her thought she she completely get them herself.

And there's times when she never eats the given dinner, she would want the exact thing that wasn't prepared that day.
If the dinner was, say Oatmeal; She would ask for chicken.

Over the years she was obliged so now she's a pain in the ass.
I hate it when she asks mother to make something that ain't there; mother is a busy person and she has work to do, and the last thing she would do is to feed this troll who won't eat what she is given. And if that doesn't happen, she'd go on telling people mom doesn't feed her and shit.

Anyway, I don't like arguing with people generally, even though I'm tempered.
And when she starts a fight, it's a pain in the ass to argue with her.

Here is how a conversation goes:

Me: Don't do that, it pisses me off
Her: Uh huh
Me: I mean it, that really pisses me off
Her: Sure Whatever

I really want to slap her hard when she says that.
I have a temper, I can control it but she can really irritate me to the brink of losing it. Only happens with her.

I need to know how to make her shut up by saying something without any sparks flying. I don't want to swear or beat the shit out of her.
So give me a one liner or something that will end any argument. You can even tell me something that can make her feel bad and shut up. Making her feel bad is the only way to shut her up, I've noticed.

The best one-liner argument winner is by far "No you."

3 Name: Anonymous : 2010-06-29 19:13 ID:rtcbnULX

Don't say anything. Just be assertive of your rights, value yourself, your boundaries, etc, and get the hell out of there as soon as you can.

Don't indulge her, don't buy into her crap.

I can't say for sure, but I've dealt with people like this before, and it seems like she may have some traits of narcissistic personality disorder. Which means that she thinks she's better than you and will try to prove it by making you do things for her, and dominating you in arguments, etc.

So the best option is to be the better person and just not give in. She wants you to argue, she wants you to cave in. There is no way to win. Just by getting into an argument you have already lost, and I assure you that even if the prospect of you winning the argument arose she would do everything in her power to make sure you didn't, even changing the argument.

The best thing you can do is cut her out of your life to the greatest degree possible.

> And expects people to fetch stuff for her thought she she completely get them herself.

Don't do anything for her.

> And there's times when she never eats the given dinner

What do you care?

> I really want to slap her hard when she says that.

If you're siblings and under, say 16, and not too far apart in age.. go for it.

> I need to know how to make her shut up by saying something without any sparks flying.

Walk away.

> Making her feel bad is the only way to shut her up

Now that would be cruel. Is she actively trying to make you feel bad?

teary eyes YES, i know how you're feeling!
Less conversation = Less arguement

In that example argument it sounds like you're the one asking for a fight. I don't believe your the victim here at all, you are just two jerkass dominant people doing what they do best, except you're potentially worse 'cause you get angry over petty taunts and even once resorted to violence. That's weak man.

You want to have the last word and so does she, my suggestion: quit trying to have the last word and walk away, you'll find it works wonders.

>seems like she may have some traits of narcissistic personality disorder.

YES, being a jerkass is now a diagnosable disorder and every man and his dog is potentially a sufferer. you heard it first here folks

>Which means that she thinks she's better than you and will try to prove it by making you do things for her, and dominating you in arguments, etc.

Oh really...

..With all due respect, meaning none at all really, npd is not something diagnosable over the internet much less by someone that cruises wikipedia trying to self-diagnose aspergers or adhd.

Ignoring works wonders.

Tie her up and tell her it is an attitude adjustment!

Penis cockin'. Heh heh. Now, listen to me. Next time she says 'uh huh' and 'sure whatever' to you, do this. Say 'there's not enough love in this family. We need to stick together' and walk over to her and hug her really hard, and don't let go for a whole minute, even if she shouts at you or something.

I'm serious. Do this, I want to see what would happen. Let us all know how things turn out.

Don't let her know what you feel. Telling her you can't take what she's doing is pretty much asking for mercy, and she's not gonna give it. The answer is to be a man. Don't react to her shit and ignore her in every case unless she directly confronts you. If she attempts to start an argument and you must argue, never argue inside the argument because that will only add fuel to the fire. For example, "Don't you have anything better to do?" "You're getting mad over something like that?" "I don't know how you're going to ever get ahead in life if you can't get over something like that." etc. but avoid being mean because the aim is to earn respect, not become a rival. Depriving her of your attention when she's being unreasonable will give her the hint. One last thing: Learn from trial and error. Know when the fight is coming up and use the chance to avoid it.

Crap, the linebreaks in my post didn't go through, so it ended up being a wall-of-text.

I think this is what you need to do. Seriously. Do this and every cog in her ratty little brain will jam to a halt.

She wants to fuck.

But seriously, my sisters were like this (they were older however). I just stopped any communication and relations with them, they grew up and moved out and now they bug me all the time to be friends with me and be apart of my life.

Girls, you missed that boat a long time ago.

Bratty sister? Overworked single mother? Violent urges?

I can relate. As others have said, ignore her. My older siblings conditioned me to answer requests and take orders instantly and without a second thought. My younger sister unknowingly exploits that part of me, and my helpful personality, causing her to become almost literally dependent on me at times.

Ignore her. Once I stopped slapping her upside the head, I stopped feelin guilty about taking my anger out on her. Don't answer her, and she'll start doing things herself.

Siblings parent each other. It's just how it is.

You seem easy to troll.

Your sister is trolling you.

Cease being trolled.

OP here
I honestly don't care what she says anymore when bickering.
In a quarrel, even if she calls me a bitch or something, I just look like she's speaking Klingon and show an ignorant demeanor.
Ignorance is truly bliss.

I wish I had a sister like that.
