My Mother (9)

Well I'm 17 and almost absolutely despise my mother. Sure she buys food at restaurant sometimes and pays for my piano lessons after i quit drum lessons but she has been really harsh with punishments for little things nowadays. I know I am not a great student in school as i am lazy but she is making me feel like a helpless/worthless piece of shit. I gave her my school progress report which is a hard copy of my grades as of two weeks ago this friday and she says that she will put me in options for youth (which is almost a homeschooling shpeal) if i get as low as a c. Two things about that. 1) these are a progress report not a report card and wont go on my college transcripts 2) the stress of not seeing my friends for long periods at a time is truly fucking heartbreaking. This is only the tip of the iceberg of my problems but i'll save you the bitching. The main reason why i wanted to post this here is really to vent but i would love suggestions as to what needs to be done to prevent this from happening other than to work on schoolwork.

Seriously... stop being a bitch and try harder at school, then you wouldn't have these problems.

Your Mom just wants the best for you. She's put so much effort into you... you have no idea how hard it is to be a parent.

I know how frustrating parents can be, though. Even though they wish for the best, they sometimes do things that are too harsh or aren't even sensible. They act out of fear, anger, prejudice... they are as flawed as anyone.

I hope you realize before too late how important and good your mother is. It took me a while, personally. I'm having a hard enough time taking care of myself, I don't even want to think what it must have been like to be a single mother, with no degree and a bad job, and taking care of three kids.

She made me so angry sometimes, but now that I look back on it, I know she was just doing the best she could. I wish I could've seen that back then.

It's true, even though parents are really annoying sometimes, they only wish the best for you. I personally have a hard time getting along with my mother as well, but in the end, i know she loves me and I do hope she knows I love her too.

It's kind of sad to me, that in the heat of the moment I treat her bad sometimes because of her personal problems, and then when I'm suffering my own personal problems she treats me really nicely. Oh well. I did write her a text message once, saying that I was sorry for being so mean to her sometimes. I'm pretty sure she forgot all about that though.

I regret my lacks in the field of formal edumaction. You're just tense, try a reward your mother approach, that should make her understand you're trying, but keep on studying.

>>1 You have two problems: your academic inadequacy, and your difficult relationship with your mother. But I think you are getting your priorities wrong, your most immediate problem is not your mother, but your difficulties at school. If you fix your problems there, the tension with your mother will decrease.

It's because you don't seem to be able to manage school on your own that your mother feels the need to step in and try to help (probably in a clumsy and inefficient manner).

So the best way to address your issue is for you to start taking care of yourself in a responsible manner, so that your mother does not feel the need to treat you like a child. If you are having difficulties to study or do your homework, try to discuss that with your teachers, perhaps you could join or start a study group, something that will help give you discipline to work. If you have problems understanding a following classes, ask help from your teachers, etc. Solve your problems by yourself.

At least you have a mother. Some people don't have one... lost theirs. One of my mates, he never knew his mother. She died because he was born. Complications. His dad never remarried.
