I wish I could emphasise with people better (4)

I've been told that I act very insensitive towards people, when I do not intend to project that feeling outwards. My persona is quiet, and I'm not used to expressing myself or being able to communicate with people successfully.

Does anyone know any tips to improve the understanding of people, and be able to act appropriately in social situations?

Read self-help books on body language? A lot of them are complete bullshit though, so be careful.

Also check out some autism resources. Coping: A Survival Guide for People with Asperger Syndrome is a pretty good one.

Don't worry about it. Like, seriously, don't bother trying to make others feel comfortable around you. It doesn't matter.

@ 2: Thank you for the link! I will give it a read and see if it can help my situation. I have been speculating I had this syndrome, as well. Body language is a tricky one. A lot of the time I show lying symptoms when I'm actually nervous.

@ 3: I think it really does, even though I felt like I wanted to rebel against "general society" especially from bad experiences I had in high school. Now, as an adult I realise that is it a pretty important skill to have, otherwise I might not get anywhere in life. Especially in the realms of keeping friends, and being able to hold down a job.
