left nav bar frame became bigger
now it takes 1/4 of my screen
a bit too much imo

It's perfectly fine for me now, but I guess it would do a little bit smaller. Maybe a good solution would to test the frame sizes in different screen resolutions.

LEFT NAV BAR IS HUEG LIEK XBOX

It's really irritating. I have to resize 2ch's navbar because it's too narrow. Now 4-ch's is too wide. Grr.

Test in smaller window sizes and correspondingly smaller fonts. This is simpler than changing screen res and works just as well.

yes.. it got bigger, too much empty space.

Here's my problem. Not too long ago I had people complaining that it was too damn small, people having to resize it make it fill just the right amount.

Now, its too big. It appears that no matter what size I give it, it wont ever be correct for everyone and I will forever have people complaining about it. So, if anyone has a solution that makes the frame perfect on every commonplace resolution I am all for it, because it seems I can never get it right.

Yes it was too small before because "Programming" is too long, it got truncated.
A better solution would be to go back to the original width and to rename Programming to "Program". IMO.

Theoretically, you could devise a small piece of javascript that calculates the current needed width.

Can you use em widths for framesets? That sounds like a more pracitcal idea.

that frame fits perfect here!

It's getting worse and worse: now the left frame vanishes when one clicks on a group. >_<;
Please let's go back to the original setup.

Use Firefox and RSS Feed.

Problem solved.

I repeat: left nav bar is too big.

Requesting people either help me with a solution, or quit complaining. You can view the HTML to the framesizes, work me out some better numbers.

On my setup, 130 pixels works well for the left frame. Each link fits on one line and the "Discussion Boards" heading is neatly split into 2 lines. Maybe bump it to 140 pixels to make room for thick vertical scrollbars.

I'm using Firefox 1.0.3 in an 800x600 window on X11 (96 dpi) with the site-supplied stylesheet (8pt Verdana links, 12pt Georgia heading).

Seems to be fixed. Thank you Squeeks.

Works great, no long lines. Leave it exactly like it is and never add any boards with long names that require more space.
