Squeeks, if you want a license for the wiki, it whould be easyer now than after handfull of anonoymous edits.

Asserting all the information to public domain whould be nice. Thou, copying articles from wikipedia (like DQN) whould also be usefull, so GFDL is another option.

Should we bother thinking of copyright at all?

I think it would be helpful to somehow merge the index page into the front page... Also "Recent Changes" page doesn't turn up anything.

are the edit summaries actually displayed anywhere?

No I haven't really thought about what "licence" to put it under. I have no idea on stuff like that and I didn't think that you are under obligation to do so. I spose Public Domain would be the best, since no one technically owns it.
I know the recent changes doesn't turn up anything. I've been told about that already. It' s prolly a bug - more likely a setting I goofed up on. I don't think it's a very serious issue.

I also noticed there are no talk pages like on mediawiki. So are we going to create a talk page or discuss herein or... ?

No... when I finish working on upgrading the site, a discussion board to talk about the wiki/other site projects will most likely go in. So far no one else has said that they'll help me with a sodding thing, so it's gonna take me a while...

Alignment is pretty fucked or either I don't get it. Text seems to be block-aligned by default, I don't know how to change it. And somehow I cannot seem to get image alignment working on resized images, at least not when right-aligned.

I think we could use a "4-ch" article with answers to questions like "What is 4-ch", "What's the philosophy behind it?", "Is it really Anonymous?", "Who are the admins?" etc.

Kind of a like a mini FAQ

I am just too lazy to start it right now... orz

Someone else plz 2 be bold

>What is 4-ch?

4-ch is a website for anonymous discussion on a variety of topics. The site was started November 1st 2004, and hasn't died yet. Originally I classed it as a mere "experiment" to see how the English speaking *chan community would react, at the time I was unaware of world2ch. Now however it's a lot more than that, and hopefully one day we can become some kind of active community or "place" where communication can occour where names aren't required.

> How do you pronounce the name?

I never could work that out. I guess "Channel 4" could be one way as this tries to stop any silly "4chan" confusion.

> Why not 4ch.net?

NTT Inc. (the company that hosts 2ch) owns the domain, to try and fend off rip-offs. I would like the domain, I don't think I'm going to get it.

> Who are the admins?

I'm the only admin of the site. One techie looks after the server. "Moderators" however, it's up to them to disclose their identities, however most of them prefer to be anonymous. We have 5 moderators, only 3 of them actually do anything. WAHa has moderator powers, but then again, he does look after the boards when he's not lazy in case of breakdowns or any other code-related issues.

> Is it really Anonymous?

Answer that simply: Yes. You are under no obligation to provide your name to us when you post. If you wish to hide your "ID", fill the "Link" field with anything. A single space character is enough. Webserver logs are purged weekly. Moderators can't see your IP address. Only I can, and it takes quite a bit of messing around.

If you have any more questions that you want me to answer or something, fire away and age the thread.

Something unfortunate I have just discovered with this wiki: You can only ompare older versions of a page with the current version... orz

Thanks for the answers. I think I am going to put together something later on.

I'll probably also use http://info.2ch.net/guide/faq.html as an orientation.

PS: I am thinking we should collectively decide on what articles of the wiki are "perfect" and submit them to some kind of official FAQ (which we previously had but that one was far from perfect).
