[FRONT PAGE] T-shirt designs? (105)

1 Name: !!XjdwLWBy (Admin) 2005-08-28 04:32 ID:Heaven

If you don't know, I am a printing student and currently I'm studying Screenprinting which is the method to how most t-shirts get printed. Talking to my teacher, he's allowed me once I've finished my assement (in about 4-5 weeks) to print something of my own on to whatever medium I like. So, I have this half-baked idea of doing a one-off batch of T-shirts for 4-ch. It would only be a single colour, either single or doubled sided, and I couldn't get away with more than a dozen at the most.

There is a problem. I don't know what design to put on them! So here ITT you can come up with suggestions. AA artists/kopipers are more than welcome to come up with ideas. Please, keep it simple, keep it a single colour and something suitable for a T-shirt. For all you designers out there, you're more than welcome to email me vector work as well. Please keep it in PDF as it makes it easier for me to handle.

2 Name: !!XjdwLWBy (Admin) 2005-08-28 04:36 ID:Heaven

Two other things I'd like to mention:
i) No shirts :( - things could sidetrack me and it is possible that I'll run out of time and not get them done. If you guys really want the shirts, I'm more than happy to do a small batch with a local screenprinter.

ii) Cost - So far I'll sell these to you for my cost price (which will be shirt + postage). However I would like to swindle a dollar or two more as a donation, to help pay for the bandwidth bill :P Would people mind if that's the case?

Aside from those, show me your ideas!

3 Name: Anonymous 2005-08-28 05:02 ID:vVeD+6BD

No ideas, but what shirt size will these be?

4 Name: !!XjdwLWBy (Admin) 2005-08-28 06:43 ID:Heaven

I haven't thought that far ahead. I'll take some requests on what shirt sizes you all wear. The other problem with that is that different countries have different ways of measuring. And just to make it harder for you folks in North America, it's all metric here!

5 Name: Anonymous 2005-08-28 14:32 ID:Noc6Lcv4

So where would the shirts be sent from?

6 Name: Sakurina!hb3hogbZLc 2005-08-28 15:02 ID:Heaven

Hehe, it's metric in Canada, so no worries for me. :)

As I suggested in the IRC channel (which more of you should hang out in), I'd like to see some AA shirts. It'd be pretty awesome to have a geeky shirt to wear around on the weekends (I wear a uniform to school).

I'll get my shirt size when I'm out of lazy-mode.

If anything, DQN-kun. He's kind of an original creation at least:

id buy an oppai guy shirt

11 Name: Shii 2005-08-30 21:29 ID:9I3k4+Ef

I would also buy an oppai t-shirt. That's VIP quality.

DQN... I don't think so

oh shii, you and your VIP quality...

I'd buy a shirt with anything like "VIP Quality" or "DQN" or just some AA-characther like the oppai-dude.

15 Name: Anonymous 2005-08-31 10:02 ID:Heaven

How about:

I'M WITH DQN →

or ← is DQN

16 Name: !!XjdwLWBy (Admin) 2005-08-31 22:16 ID:Heaven

These are some good ideas coming so far. I will say that trying to get the "Oppai!" guy won't be easy, as there is a bit of a skill aligning up SJIS art, but it's possible. There's still a bit more time for this if you have any more ideas.

I just started up school, haven't even had much time for posting to the site, but I'll see if I have time to make any designs :)

25 Name: !!XjdwLWBy (Admin) 2005-09-09 08:42 ID:csi8Wu7z

I have a bit of a deadline. Monday 19th September some sort of agreement on a final design should be made. Also, while I think of it, shirt sizes have to be worked out as well. Otherwise, I'll just buy a bunch of shirts in varying sizes.

Also: What colour do you Want the shirts? what about the ink? I am a bit more restricted to ink colours, but common ones are available. I'm also going to try and borrow a mate's digital camera so we can show you making the shirts, and how they will look at the end.

Let's be careful about copying 2ch AA designs

>>26
People make 2ch merchandise all the time. Claiming community property as your own is the trouble here.

I don't want an exclusive 4ch reference like some "1000" thing. The chance anyone would understand it is about 0. It would be better if it has a well-known 2ch character like Kikkoman or Shii with "4-ch.net for the world", or something. Or, even better, an AA character invented on 4-ch...

...why, of course... GRANDPA!

34 Name: !!XjdwLWBy (Admin) 2005-09-12 11:56 ID:uaeunqJa

I've got an idea. As much as I would like to sell these shirts off and use them to swindle in more donations to pay the bills, I thought of a nice idea. I'd like to give the shirts away. Pay for postage, printing, the lot. Except... you have to send me a postcard from where you live with your address on it. When I get all the cards, I'll scan/photograph them in and show everyone the fronts (the bit without your address on it).

What do people think about that instead?

38 Name: !!XjdwLWBy (Admin) 2005-09-13 13:52 ID:uaeunqJa

Well, yeah I guess, considering that you've got less than a week before I have to prepare the work up and buy the shirts etc. In terms of sizes, I'll buy about 6-12 shirts in various sizes from what's considered small, up to extra-extra-large. The only bit I'm not looking forward to is taking them to the check-out to pay for them (NO I'M NOT GOING TO STEAL THEM).

Since I'm guessing everyone wants >>30, here's the next thing I want to ask:
What colour do you want? Both Ink and shirt.. and you don't have to use Black/White. I am a bit limited on ink colours however, but I'll raid the ink cupboard at college and get a small list of the sort of colours I'll print with. I can also get away with using different colours for different shirts.

Can you mix colors? Having the 4-ch.net blue and underlined like a hyperlink, and the rest black on white, might be cool without being too garish.

Sounds good, but I'd like to have something besides just a plain white shirt.

56 Name: Anonymous 2005-09-18 05:01 ID:Vs2q8ef7

I think white print on red would be cool.. Or otherwise reversed out or bright colors. I agree that plain white is kinda boring. Maybe a pale yellow like the futaba BG color. 2ch bricks obviously can't be done...

Are different sizes gonna be available? (´・ω・`)

Thank you for offering to make shirts though, can't wait to see how they come out!

> Are different sizes gonna be available? (´・ω・`)

YES! I need you guys to tell me roughly what sizes to get.

58 Name: Anonymous 2005-09-18 15:36 ID:Vs2q8ef7

Girl's small or if that's not possible, medium. Not trying to screw you up or make a joke.

If it's only guy's sizes, I guess a small (´・ω・`)

59 Name: Anonymous 2005-09-18 16:20 ID:rcqBRD3l

Large, or equivalent.

60 Name: Anonymous 2005-09-18 18:38 ID:ZjvxIt2C

Many times, people that wear large size should actually probably be wearing medium. I'm not talking about those that actually need to wear large, but rather those young kids (I'm one of them) that wear large shirts that are simply too big / baggy. Medium might seem like a good "average" size for mankind.

Originally I thought I would just charge you guys for the shirts and add on a couple of bucks to get some extra cash to pay the bandwidth bill. Then I thought hey, why not give them away, and ask for a postcard or something. Well, considering I have to print the shirts next monday the postcard idea is out because they wont reach it here on time. Secondly, I'm broke as hell. Coughing up $150-$200 for shirts and postage under my own wallet would make my cash situation worse. Would it be fair to ask for the cost of the shirt? It's going to (probably) cost me nothing to print them, and only a few bucks in postage.

Would you pay $12US for a shirt? If I get some quick "yes" or "no" answers to this, I'll get onto the next bit on how you can get a shirt.

76 Name: Anonymous 2005-09-21 16:52 ID:rcqBRD3l

Sure, $12 would be fine.

78 Name: Anonymous 2005-09-22 06:42 ID:Vs2q8ef7

12 is good. If it includes S&H even 15 would be fine. If S&H is seperate, 12 is good I think.

Another thing that hasn't been finalised... (shit I thought I forgot something)

Shirt colours and Ink colours

What colours for each? Remember it's 1 colour for the ink. I'd rather not have black + white either and I've got a lot of variety to choose from. Or should it just be random? Maybe a random shirt colour with say a black or white ink?

Once this is sorted I'll be opening offers etc so I can go buy the shirts.

83 Name: Anonymous 2005-09-22 19:00 ID:ZaUaDL/l

You should make at least some of them with the color of the thread background in Pseud0ch, or at least the closest color you can find to it. That seems like the most representative color of 4-ch... and it's especially appropriate since the design incorporates what would be text from a thread.

Medium.
I´d prefer the "orz1000"-design.
Orange shirts would be nice.

Make a quick photoshop of what the shirts would look like, before printing them.

92 Name: Squeeks!HWJHSqueek 2005-09-25 14:57 ID:Heaven

Someone suggested to go with the pseud0ch look so the shirts are light-grey with black ink. I'm not a big fan of orange shirts with black on them, I've had to deal with not only designing for them, but also wearing them for a large LAN party here back in early 2004.

Stencils get put on tomorrow (Monday), the T-shirts get delivered and Tuesday they get printed. I'll try to organise a digital camera to show you what we have to go through to print them, and what they'll look like.
