Sports Board? (27)

4ch should have a board so sports fans can talk smack to each other about their favorite teams. With NHL ending, NBA not far behind, MLB throwing it's opening pitch next month and NFL just around the corner, I think it would be absolutely awesome to have this kind of board. :)

Thanks~!

I had a good ide for a board while half sleep... then I forgot it.

Right now what makes me decide what new boards get added is simply answering the question of avoiding having disused boards full of crap posts and also still have boards on topics that enough people are demanding. No doubt I'll think of it (I had the idea of maybe a motorsport specific board maybe?) and if anyone has a good reason why, I'll put it in.

Sports =/= Hobbies

Posting a little innocent message in support of sports board.

Sports enthusiasts tend to surprisingly active readers/writers at least where I come from.

Hobbies @4-ch
Do you do something enjoyable away from the computer from time to time? Maybe art, sports or something else? Put away your geek-ish habits and talk about them all here.

Operative word being, do you DO something. Most people here don't play basketball or football or hockey but they watch it, cheer and comment on it.

Right. After the server move, hopefully we can get some more boards up. Or something. So then, with quite a few people being critical of my actions I have a bit of a small list so far:

  • Sports
  • Automotive
  • Poetry

Plus random ideas that keep popping in and out of my head. What do you think?

Partition to rename "poetry" to "poesy", just because I like the word!

Partition to rename "poesy" to "emoland", just because I'm being facetious.

  • Live TV
  • Health, Body and Mind
  • Arts
  • General Living (domestic whatnot?)
  • Fashion
  • Travel
  • Home Electronics

In answer to your question, all three have enough potential to deserve a trial at least.

While I'm at it, I'm tempted to take /tech/ and turn it into a tech support board, because that's really all it is getting full of these days.

Cheers for the feedback too.

Sounds good. Hopefully the server move will be quick.

>Sports
>Automotive

Are hobbies

>Poetry

Is literature. We have enough no-traffic boards already.

>>An activity or interest pursued outside one's regular occupation and engaged in primarily for pleasure.

Again, an activity done by someone. Again, watching and commenting on sports is not playing them. Therefore, sports should not fall under hobbies.

maybe when the hobbies board gets more traffic

21 Name: Anonymous Advisor : 2006-05-23 13:29 ID:Heaven

How about chaning the name of Hobbies to Hobbies/Sports. Hobbies alone tends to imply less physical activities like model building.

Do the SPORTS SPORTS flood to win

Bump for good idea. If sports become dominant, the board could then be split.

Sports should have its own board, I'd feel guilty running thoes model threads over.
