I think an < hr > tag would be really sweet.
And a < code > tag please?

Thanks.. and sorry for my ignorance if any.

backticks already do < code >

Not when your formatting is HTML though...

> hr

why?

does the trick when necessary (and it never is)

You probably know that you can already paste code with whitespace preserved in a monospace font by indenting it with 4 spaces, right?
Anyway, pre would be more useful (code won't preserve whitespace) - but posts that require both HTML and pre blocks are really rare anyway, and you can make 2 separate posts if necessary.

If your formatting is HTML, the 4 spaces will not work.
And I am honestly tired of opening my editor and typing something like %s/^/ / in a temp buffer just to post some code here..
Maybe there's no need for hr, but damn there is one for a code one..
How hard or error-prone could it be to add a code tag? I was until now quite baffled whether it wasn't possible to add code in HTML or it was me doing something really silly.

As for hr, IMHO that should be added too. Maybe it could have a unique CSS style to make it somewhat smaller than the one between [Return Entire Thread Last 50 posts] and the last post in a thread.
It could be used to seperate multiline things, like 2 pieces of code or 2 quotes from people.

But regardless, there is no point in us discussing or arguing if there's no staff member that raises a valid point or at least hears what we have to say..
Do mods even look here anymore?

Yes, they do. But you should understand that the low-tech aspect of this sort of boards is not something most users are eager to see "fixed".

I agree that a <pre> tag would be very useful. I am sick of tabbing lines in a temp buffer to post monospace too. And what happened to multi-line monospace making backticks anyway? Now it only works on single lines.
