mp3 alarm clock??!! (7)

Okay, long story short, I'm looking to buy an inexpensive alarm clock that can play a simple mp3... Not an IPOD alarm clock, as I don't have an ipod, just an alarm clock that either has a tiny bit of onboard memory or that I can shove a tiny memory stick in, and can play a small song or such off of it...

So far, I've found a cube-shaped one frequently imported from china which plays mp3s from memory stick, but is $40-$50, or a "Thanko" brand clock that looks like the old-fashioned alarm clock w/ the two bells on the sides, which is $35, but is only powered by 3xAAA batteries or USB... No simple AC plug...

I'd have thought something like this would've been simple, as surely someone has seen the need for such a simple gadget and made one for those who want to occasionally put a voice clip or a particular song on their alarm clock...

Does anyone know of anything simple that fits the bill for what I'm looking for?!

Why not just get a CD player alarm clock and burn a CD with the sound file on it? That'd probably be a lot cheaper than any MP3-alarm clock anyway.

>>1 Why not get an AC->USB adaptor? These are 5VDC power supplies that are terminated by a USB socket, allowing you to power USB devices.

>>3 Actually, didn't think of something as obvious as that... That might work, if nothing else.. (I still just can't believe in this day & age, something as simple as a clock w/ a tiny bit of flash memory in it to play a stupid 50 second clip costs like $25+ everywhere, and don't even have power cords, just batteries...)

>>2... Didn't think of that either... If I can find a CD-Player alarm clock... That might be the silver-bullet... It might be bigger, but who cares, if it works & you can set it to play the CD as the wake-up call...

Thanks!

you could just suck it up and buy some batteries. at least in that case there's no chance of the inevitably cheaply made ac adapter melting after a couple of days continuous usage.

>>6 Well, that PSU would be manufactured to meet various safety standards that would prevent that from happening.
