Mouse Problems/Possible Replacement (8)

I'm having problems with my mouse and I honestly can't figure out what is wrong. I'm not an idiot when it comes to things like this but this time I am dumbfounded and hard pressed to find an answer.

My problem is when I click (once) it seems to be double clicking. I've clicked only once but folders seem to be opening, two tabs seem to be closing, and other weird shit. This isn't a common occurance though only 4 out of every 10 clicks seem to be a 'double click'.

My mouse hasn't taken a beating and I was thinking of getting a new one anyway but right now I don't have much money so I don't want to replace it unless it's actually broken. Can anyone help me here? And maybe suggest a few mice. I don't play games often but when I do I don't like the mouse to fuck about. I was thinking of buying a mouse under $150AUD.

> $150AUD

blimey. what are you looking for in a mouse for that price?

my current mouse cost me like £10 (AU$20ish) and i couldnt see myself wanting anything more. i mean its got a scroll wheel and two buttons, it isnt wildly inaccurate and it doesnt get stuck or jerk around or anything. only thing i might possibly desire is a couple of buttons on the sides, which i might pay another £10 for the privilege of having.

maybe thats just because i don't play PC games though.

My mouse cost me AU$14 in Sydney. It is a standard 400 DPI infared USB mouse and I have 0 problems with using it in twitch games like CnC or any FPS game.

I want a mouse that doesn't fuck up. Sometimes my cursor would move on it's own. The current mouse that I have (some wireless Logitech one) is complete shit.

I paid $60AUD for it. So would spending less than $150 on a mouse seem unreasonable? I don't play many games and when I do I use the keyboard or gamepad.

that's your problem, right there.

It could be your mousing surface. I know my mouse dislikes certain mouse pads and pattern.

I've got one of Wacom's Bamboo pen tablets that comes with a mouse, and it works just fine. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but it's wireless and only works when you actually have it in contact with the tablet. My only complaint is that the fabric pad on the bottom gets kinda grungy after a while, but the whole thing is about US$100 and it comes with Photoshop Elements 4.0 and Painter Essentials 3, if you happen to use those. Whatever, I'm happy with it.
