Master of Champions (6)

1 Name: Couch Potato : 2006-06-02 06:11 ID:/ZMZrv8I

>Each week, six competitors with some of the world's most unique talents face off in this one-hour competition to determine who is the best of the best. Preeminent judges from show business and sports will pare the contestants down to three, who will then face a live studio audience for the final selection of one as the next Master of Champions. Contestants will participate in such unique and extreme challenges as the International House of Helicopters, Human Fireworks, Interpretive Pizza Tossing, the Extreme Unicycle Obstacle Course and Amazing Drift Driving. The fearless competitors range in ages from ten up.
>Master of Champions is based on the format World Records by NTV from Japan.

Looks like a silly competition show along the lines of MXC/Takeshi's Castle. Could be fun.

What are people's thoughts on the third season so far? I've found Lou's degeneration to be more and more pitiful with every episode. Also with the recent dark turn of events, I'm glad that Leary is still able to maintain the dramedy feel of the show.

In honor of the new X-men movie (7)

lol! That link is hilarious! i can't wait to see X-3,

3 Name: Couch Potato : 2006-05-27 09:58 ID:E4ZtVlyy

That pilot is just painful to watch.

X3 was VERY good though. They didn't do Angel justice, he had like 34 lines in the whole movie. He's more there for decoration.
I'm still made about Gambit though seeing the Sentinel was great.
Easily the best scene in the whole film was...

I swear my and 4 other guys were laughing our ASSES of in the theater for 5 min. after that.

4 Name: Couch Potato : 2006-05-29 18:02 ID:g6I4J23A

lol yeah, but they cut off the best part of the line with that clip.

"Don't you know who I am? I'm the JUGGERNAUT, bitch!"

5 Name: Couch Potato : 2006-06-21 08:45 ID:bc8dpqYB

anyone see the scene after the credits? c-could prof x possibly be evil, to do such a horrible thing to a comatose patient??

6 Name: Couch Potato : 2006-06-21 09:26 ID:4RsG/JAI

The patient was born without any brain functions beyond breathing IIRC. Basically, there was no-one home to evict

7 Name: Couch Potato : 2006-06-22 12:48 ID:8m+Ckuzv

God it sucked ass this film completely ruined the franchise no feeling in it at all.
The best part of the movie was Kitty being chased by Juggernaught and the 15 seconds after the credits which we had to protest to see at my local cinema because they shut it off after the credits.
All in all very very dissapointed

I'm a Japanese.
An American TV drama, FULL HOUSE is very funny.
It had been broadcasted from 1993 to 1997 in Japan.
Was it a popular program in America?

35 Name: sage : 2006-03-27 10:14 ID:DJActUbu

If it wasn't for Full House, there would be any Olsen Twins crap laying around..

...but it sure made ABC own Fridays, along with that Steve Urkel character.

Full House = Lame, lame, lame, lame, lame.

Get rid of Bob Saget and it'd be an ok show

39 Name: Couch Potato : 2006-03-29 01:01 ID:Heaven

Hey, Bob Saget's not a bad dude. He sucked dick for coke!

40 Name: Couch Potato : 2006-03-29 04:21 ID:wWLfU8DN

Full House was very popular, especially among families. It along with the rest of ABC's TGIF Friday lineup was part of one of the most family-friendly programming blocks at the time. Its saccharine nature drew a lot of criticism from more jaded people.

The baby in the show was actually played by a pair of twin sisters. This is a not uncommon practice because a child's maximum allowed work hours are strictly restricted by the labor laws. After the show ended, they built a small entertainment and merchandise empire on the pre-teen market.

Bob Saget, who played the father, is also a stand-up comedian with a reputation for using raunchy, adult material.

You know, I'm interested to know what the japanese translation was like. For example, what did catchphrases like "You got it dude" and "Cut it out" turn into?

Remember the nerd in Densha Otoko who cosplayed as Amuro at the bridge? The one with long hair and an eye drawn on his hand? He got himself a comedy spinnoff! His schtick is sitting in the audience of live interviews with popular idols and making them laugh with little more than a notebook and marker.

Get the rest here:

5 Name: Couch Potato : 2006-06-14 04:42 ID:PNI826hX

rofl, yeah and that's why American movies are popular in a lot of places yet no one hears of some weird Japanese actor.

17 Name: Couch Potato : 2006-03-29 16:50 ID:3Xrg+CB8

I think it depends on the individual person. People get too hung up on race and nationality. It makes me sad.

V For Vendetta (27)

>There's realistically no way a woman could love a man after/because of that prison treatment.

Maybe she accepted it as being the truth? Maybe after she understood what he was trying to show her? It may have been hard as hell treatment, but he had under a year to turn her from a terrified law-abiding citizen into a fearless terrorist. And he had to do it in such a way where she wouldn't kill herself after. So he planned it accordingly.

>I guess this is to be expected from D.C. Comics, though.

To be fair the original comic of V For Vendetta was written before it was picked up by D.C. Comics. The author was trying to get a deal with D.C. and get his foot in the door. V For Vendetta was his food in the door.

19 Name: Couch Potato : 2006-04-06 05:59 ID:Heaven

Before I saw VfV, I checked the local paper's rating. A C+.
I'd give it a solid B; enough action to keep your attention, a decent plot and decent acting. Nothing too spectacular, but a solid film.

21 Name: Couch Potato : 2006-04-13 01:13 ID:vJVTShFr

ehh, it was ok.

The romance was too played up to me, kinda seemed tacked on as an afterthought. For a film supposedly tackling sensitive subject matter it didn't really move me or shock me at all either, more of the same stuff from Hollywood.

22 Name: draikjester : 2006-05-26 21:11 ID:8UJ2yoi6

i loved the movie! I thought that V's plan's and the actions
he took were incredibly intellegent and well thought out.
Also the movie made me feel impowered. I was overwhelmed with the sudden meaning of true freedom and what people go through to obtain it. The only problem was i did not get a chance to write down what i was thinking at the time.

23 Name: Snoop : 2006-06-02 20:39 ID:JbWQdakA

I like it very much the same as the matrix ones.
I did think it's possible to love someone who's treat you so cruelly, Think about the Stockholm Syndrome and thats similarities. Also as for the Hair, I did find it strange. in such a totalitarian society where everyone has to be "normal" I would have believed that the bald look would have been MUCH more suspicious. I did thoroughly enjoy the acting from Hugo Weaving. I had ABSOLUTELY no idea it was him till 1/2 through the interrogation skit where he gives her the option to give in.

Story was more than acceptable, I live in the UK, and I'm probably gonna have potential for my sport to become banned due to the UK's overbearing nanny complex, I doubt it would take more to push from nanny complex to totalitarian state. Heaven knows the BNP have been pushing for some similar actions(Similar, NOT the same...)

24 Name: Phosphates : 2006-06-05 12:25 ID:Sk09zvyb

Portman's a vegetarian, so her hair grows incredibly slow (something about protein, but that I'm not real sure of).

BTW, V was one of my favorite movies of the year. Hugo Weaving was really amazing!

25 Name: Couch Potato : 2006-06-07 18:00 ID:R5rLTBDf

The original "V for vendetta" (the comic that is) contained much more than the movie and is clearly superior. Thank you movie industry for raping another good work and giving it a bad name.
