Science Fiction films (7)

Is there any science fiction films out there where the scientists do not have to turn into complete and utter idiots in order to advance the plot?

I was asked this question recently by a friend of mine who had just watched Prometheus, and realized I could not think of a single example I had watched. So I'm wondering if this board can help me come up with an answer or five.

Argh, I need to start proofreading my posts better. That was meant to read "Are there any science fiction films out there [...]", obviously.

Them! does a pretty decent job. Most of the people around him are fairly skeptical of the scientist, but imo that parallels America's anti-intellectual attitude pretty well.

Every sci-fi serial ever. The scientists aren't just scientists, they're superheroes!

Quatum leap, sliders — those I watched and was quite satisfied.
What else would you recommend just after entry level has been cleared?
