My thoughts about the movie::
I just finished watching it.. and for being a diehard ff7 fan, i must say i liked it. If you are a fan of FF7, watch it. if you dont know about ff7.. watch the cg, ignore everything else.
Before i start i just want to say: this movie is made for ff7 fans only.
The reason i am going to spend 5 minutes on typing this is beacuse i am still playing FF7 sometimes.. and i really have waited for this movie.
The Story
To be perfectly honest; i really dont see the point of making this movie, it isn't adding anything extraordinary into the whole FF7 universe. the talking is rather ok.. alot of details ( but only people who played the game would understand what the fuck they are talking about )
the talking builds up the plot, and you just know its going to happen something really awesome and extraordinary, but it just stops right there.. nothing BIG happens, except for the last fight with ********. and that isn't BIG enough. it's just a fight.
there are no "oh-shit" moments in the plot. we already know everything they say and talk about in the movie, i did.
The CG
Alright.. This is a CG action movie.. so you really are going to spend some time watching and staring at all the effects and polygons instead of following the "story".
The CG i excellent! The Frame Render & the amount of detail is just awesome.
The human design and face features are following the games design almost 100%.
Yes, they all look Gay, but thats Japan for you right there. Girls in japan like men who look feminine.
but as we all know there is always downsides, and here comes a few i noticed after the first watch.
lip sync, movments of people, physics.. these are the things that SOMETIMES get wrong or just looks strange.
and by physics, i dont mean when could is flying 100m/ph, 10 miles into the air.. thats just natural in anime/movie. i mean people running/falling, objects bouncing and stuff like that.
Music
Nobuo uematsu.. what can go wrong..... how about EVERYTHING?.. no just kidding.
Ok.. the soundtrack taken from ff7 is (as we all know) awesome. they re-made some of the songs.. added some synths and stuff.. these songs are ok and really add to the whole movie.
And then there is Jrock.. and.. well, yeah..
Overall
Alright... As a movie, see it. shit, see it twice. The second time you watch just enjoy the CG, ignore everything else.
I really dont like how they ALWAYS have to fucking show the "cool face" or the "cool look" in a fight. with that smile..thats just more gay & racist than most of men can handle..
Another thing is that the movie doesn't show many places from the game. i really wanted to see wutai and/or golder saucer... these dont exist in this movie..
The fights tend to get rather linear and just boring to watch..
After 3 minutes of fighting, you just want to take your hands and shove them in your fucking head to remove your eyes beacuse they hurt so god damn much.
And jesus chirst PLEASE!!!! Would you just stop making me cry watching aeris appear every fucking 10 seconds...
I really dont understand why they made this movie.. or maybe i do..i think square-enix is in need of money.
2GET
(i just saved you 3 seconds)
>i really dont see the point of making this movie
Money.

ABOUT TIME somone made a movie that applied to the fans and not to just the masses.
Movie of the year be , got to love when "one winged angel" starts playing.
I never finished FFVII, but I liked this movie, its very cool
///
it was too close to casshern, all about the fancy packaging but zero content
and pretty bad music too, the only part i liked was the ringtone thing
>>I never finished FFVII
die plz lol
I never played it 8)
I never played it 8)
I played FFVII about 30 minutes one time, and it seemed pretty boring.
Well i tought that the movie was fantastic and i think those who played and finished ff7 would be glad that the story turns out this way.
>>13 is a better judge of games than anybody else in the thread!
but for non-gamers like me....im like WTF ( ?_? )
Nah, I liked it and have only played like 15 minutes of it 8)
>>17
Thats beacuse you dont care and only watch the CG and anime clishé shit.
>>11 Same here, but the movie is absolutely gorgeous. I came when I saw Tifa.
Using CG for what it's good for... ACTION.
I just want to drop a reply here, I finished watching FF7:AC and I think that is one hell of a great CG movie and I LOVE IT! ^-^ well, at least I enjoyed watching it!
watched it 3 weeks ago...
and i forgot this movie even existed.
this means only one thing: movie no go
This is the movie Square Enix supposed to put out instead of that stupid FF: POS within movie.
I went into Advent Children expecting a weak attempt by Square to squeeze another buck out of the popularity of FF7.
I was right.
That said, the CG was beautifully done, and the fight scenes rocked. Bahamut was badass, and explosions and motorcycles and fire. Therefore, I can say that the movie exceeded my expectations.
I loved in where the whole gang returned to help out against SIN Bahamut, albeit too dramatically (but that's what makes it great I guess)
I wish it was longer, had more of the areas, Wutai, Golden Saucer, like stated before. In fact, I would have been content with the whole game remade into a cg movie, skipping nothing, no words skipped, no actions skipped, no areas skipped. Like a 5 hour movie. It's a great movie, but they could have added more.
This being said, I think it would be smart to remake the game for Playstation 3. They would make bank. But after that, leave FF7 alone for a while..
>Wutai, Golden Saucer
lol I fail, but to add, I think there should have been more of an epic battle, that made you like, get chills. The sephiroth battle didn't really deliver that feeling. It made you think, "lol oh shit yeah this is sick" but it didn't give you the same feeling as if he had 3 different forms, which he probably should have.
wutai and golden saucer would have just made the movie too unfocused. I liked how they tried to keep the movie focused (and yet were still able to incorperate the rest of the cast without diffusing the focus too much). And 3 forms might be fun for a game but since it was done in the game alread, to do it again in the movie? i think it would have been too overplayed. the movie was great the way it is ^_^
this movie reminds me on how strong Sephiroth is. I don't think Cloud is weak, considering he is the strongest of the group. But in the duel, it seemed to me that Sephiroth isn't even trying.
I thought the end fight was playing in Cloud's head, hence Sephiroth dissapearing in a flew of black feathers.
Overall it was technically good, but story and character-wise crap. Too bad Square is so money hungry to even crap on their own great works.
>>30 I agree, in that way they preserved Sephiroth's character and yet gave a reason for Cloud to be able to go one on one with him and still win.
and I don't think it was in Cloud's head. it seemed pretty literal and the sudden power upgrade from the spirit seemed pretty blatent. hey, in that way, it's like sephiroth had multple forms. first as the spirit and then as himself!

I reckon Advent Children has got to be the best CG films i have seen yet but the story people will not get it if they have not played the game. personaly i think its very good for the FF7 fans.
same here haha I cried whenever aerith appeared too.
Such a great movie, awesome CG, amazing fight scenes. I personaly prefer the japanese version over the english one though.
Aeris, ftw. Only reason I loved AC so much.
I love Densha Otoko!!Do you guys recommend any other good dorama?
Oops!Wrong place!Sorry!
lol
I thought advent children was pretty lame. The best part was when that victory jingle played on what's-her-name's cell phone after that fight in the cathedral. But the fights were... well, silly. And the plot, well,,, nonsensical... And the characters... well, plastic.
The movie was cool, but you just don't remember it. No chills down your spine, no revelations, nothing too epic.
Story... yeah, whatever, I don't usually follow stories very well anyway, in any movie.
Characters : gotta play the game. They're all showing up suddenly, when Bahamut arrives (fucking shitty design by the way... no, nice to see, but he can't fly like this... you wonder how he can even move... they should have kept the game's design, it was cool, simple, perfect), lending cloud courage and stuff, and then you never see them again.
Music : don't remember. Nice ringtone though.
Graphics : Yeah cool. Period. Nothing too memorable...
Action : Main part of the film. And yet, it gets a little boring over the time. It's fun, but the hits seem almost useless : not ever the slightest bruise, shitty sounds... The big exagerated movements are fun (and they were compulsory anyway, come on this is FF7), but they just don't work. They seem to easy for the characters to do. Nothing in the battles seem to have a real impact... You don't feel anything. I'd pick Valkyrie Profile as a counter-example, even though that's not a movie.
What else... I don't know...
The sand dogs things really have a bad feeling of copy-paste.
The scene where the boy runs to the HUGE dragon in front of him, just because he's japanese and the japanese are courageous or whatever, seems really stupid.
Tifa is ultra-cliché, but that's her design so ok. But Marlene wasn't like this in the game... She just seems to be complaining to Cloud for the sake of complaining. I mean, I don't know, she reproches stuff to him, it feels as if she was saying "I complain cause I am a child and you should this and that", not because she feels it but just because... just because. I dunno.
Red XIII looks weird, but I guess that wasn't easy so ok.
The final Omnislash sucks. They should have kept the sounds from the game, and the number of hits.
Lol mobile advertising.
I guess that's it.
they changed the original one winged angel to a new version called "Advent one winged angel"
too understand the story you have to play the game, the DVD had a FF7 story line where it showed scenes from the game the follows to the movie. The new blue ray disk contains some new scenes apparently
KKK
is there any BD version for this?? never heard of it...
fucking stop posting in this thread, everything that has been said about this movie is done, that's all.
