Apparently there was (quite a while ago) a tv-show, consisting of a bloke locked into an empty appartment/room with no clothes and nothing to live on, and was to stay there until he had won $10 000 in prizes by sending in postcards to contests (the goal took over a year to achieve). And apparently he wasn't informed about that he was broadcasted on nationwide TV, either.

um.. I just realized... IF it is the afro guy in Densha Otoko, suddenly what he did with the Benoist tea package at the camera at one point (when his girl was typing to the thread), would make one hell of a lot more sense! It looks a lot like the screenshots of nasubi showings various won items to the camera.

Gee.. All the various interesting cultural references you miss out on when you're not japanese nor wapanese...

Nevermind. I just had it confirmed by someone who actually does know Japanese, and has seen the two first episodes of Densha Otoko - it IS him.

so he did the show after densha? holy crap he was a good sport. what episode was it where he did the thing with the tea in Densha again? I can't remember. and is there a place to get this show? how many episodes were there?

Nasubi did that show a LONG time ago, I think almost 10 years ago

He was famous after the show, and had small roles in TV and movies ever since, Densha just happened to be one of them
