Hana Yori Dango is an awesome japanese drama. Cool kids with money having fun, with a good old romantic flavour, what more could you ask for heh

Densha Otoko the tv drama series is definatley worth a watch if you haven't see it already too.

Hana Yori Dango brings back memories...<3 I've been working on Meteor Garden, actually. This is the first live action of Hana Yori Dango; it's the Korean version. It's very good, especially if you liked the Japanese live action.^_^

Taiwanese Drama, Prince Who Turns To Frog, really good for me.

I posted this on 4chan, which of course was totally useless. Maybe 4ch, which is infinitely more wise will have something to better to say, or even recommend me a drama that I would like.

I've tried to like J-drama, I have, but I can't. Every time I want to get into a J-drama I get barraged with bad acting, asinine story lines (Hey look, Character X fell in love, but guess what he has a terminal disease!, etc.), and over the top nonsense. Oh, and please don't say GTO, I saw the first ep, and I never want to see another one.

Isn't there any J-drama that takes itself seriously, features a talented cast, has something insightful to say. I can't believe that the only thing on Japanese television that isn't a complete waste of time are the cartoons.

I guess what I'm looking for is a live action equivalent of the Honey & Clovers and Kare Kanos, or even the Monsters, and the Kino no Tabis.

I heard GTO was an awesome live drama, i've seen a few clips of it and the crazy teacher seems hilarious, but i guess its different when you watch it

I've seen NANA and i must say its a gr8 movie <3! a good combination of drama and jpop music ^_^ (one of the main characters is Mika Nakashima, a japanese singer.)
Its about 2 girls of the same age with the same name who meet eachother. There has been a manga version and an anime version of it too, but i havent seen them.

NANA stars Aoi Miyazaki, who is an angel.

Meteor Garden is in Mandarin, from Taiwan.
I reccomend Densha Otoko of course (TV version was pretty good, actually. I haven't seen the movie yet, though)
What's that Korean Drama about the Imperial Kitchens? Dae Jeum Guam? That one's pretty good (and it has the same actress as Guem Ja-shi!! 可愛い！)

Also, I must reccomend My Sassy Girl (blanking on the Korean title right now, sorry). Best Korean Drama Ever. Period.

A lot of them are just like soapies but Japanese. I would rather watch a Japanese soapy than one here in Australia, but the bad acting and plots are something that is universal over this genre. I don't mind it too much, but each to his own...

I think My Boss My Hero which is curently airing in Japan is a great drama, as well as Ikebukuro West Gate Park.

my boss my hero so far is my favorite 2006 drama. its fuckin awesome. after it ended i was like fuck this sucks, you want to see more.

Byakuyakou is another favorite, its so fucked up. child porn, male prostitution, murder, suicide, school bullying, kidnapping, rape, framing people, yakuza, molesting by priests, destroying churches and necrophilia. wtf

deep love - ayu no monogatari is awesome too. episodes are only like 25 mins, but its about a high school prostitue who lives with a junky host boy. she meets an eldery lady that has a grandson. than ayu wants to help care for her grandson, but has to turn tricks again to have the money to do it. another seriously fucked up drama.

I just saw and liked kekkon dekinai otoko and hotman!!

hana yori dango is my favorite, HYD2 is running now and it's driving me nuts waiting for the next episode! also good are love contract, the devil beside you, full house, densha otoko, kimmi wa petto, gokusen. uhm, i think most of these have already been listed, but there all worth watching.

I'm watching Lunch Queen, and I have a question about episode 3. When Natsumi is eating the curry, she puts her spoon in the glass of water. Later on, one of the brothers says something like "that stinks of poverty." Can someone explain why he said that? Maybe a cultural thing?

The Korean drama Resurrection is fucking amazing! I bought the dvd box while visiting Korea :). Korea Secret Agency is fun and I'm watching it now... Recently I also watched Maid in Akihabara. Stupid plot, but moetastic :3

Kurosagi is pretty cool.

I think it's cool when you recognize actors in different dramas. Like the main actor in Kurosagi, I thought he looked familiar. then I thought of lunch queen, and it turned out he played the youngest brother. Also the main actress in Kurosagi and nobuta was the lil sister in densha otoko, right?

Also, while I was watching kurosagi, I was thinking to myself how much better the show would be if the role of the head detective were to be played by the same actor as Light's dad in the death note movie. then I thought, that the actor who played Light's dad looked very familiar. Then it hit me, he looked a lot like chairman kaga from iron chef. I was a bit skeptical about it, but it turns out to be true according to wikipedia.

What do you guys think of Nobuta wo Produce? I'm watching it right now and I really enjoy itt

Rating is horrible, and the formula is very old school. Go with dramas that have a rating higher than 20..

First season's story is better than the second, but the second season got much, much higher ratings. Probably because of Jin and Kazuya.

I can't wait until the new season for dramas comes :D I'm really looking forward to Bambino and Liar Game :D

Hana Yori Dango (up to ep7 season 1) - Classic touching rags to riches romance story

Byakuyakou - Someone else recommended it and cp / rape / killing stood out to me with little kids. This is sort of a mystery thriller mixed with romance. An odd blend.
