what
I am American, and I waned to discuss non Japanese TV. Just once on this board, can we talk about a gaijin (you know, a nonJapanese person, or a TV show made by them)?
I'm sick of these boards being NOTHING but
*It's AWESOME because it's JAPANESE! LULZ!!!111ONE!
> I am American
Well, it might be wise to not use the word 'gaijin' to describe 'them'.
Just start a thread or two focusing on English-Language Television from Western Countries.
Might be best to narrow down the focus though, perhaps just Legal/Medical Dramas, or Sci-Fi (which would, by definition, be otaku) or about this falls premiering shows and new seasons.
History Channel specials NOT relating to ww2/war/planes.
Sliders was an old show that was pretty cool though I heard it turned to shit a few seasons later.
Eureka is not bad for something that the sci-fi channel has produced, def. above their average quality of programming.
I usually just download series/show I want to watch b/c I hate commercials. What I have downloaded are season 1s that I have yet to watch and probably won't watch for at least 8 months is clone high, dark angel, gilmore girls, alias, and that's all I can think of off the top of my head.
*Dr. Whoz iz AWESOME because it's DAVID TENNANTZZ! LULZ!!!111ONE!
> History Channel specials relating to ww2
Do they actually air anything else?
> Sliders was an old show that was pretty cool though I heard it turned to shit a few seasons later.
For that you can thank the always insightful Fox Network executives for demanding more T&A at the expense of Tracy Tormé, John Rhys-Davies, plots, dialogue, characterization, originality, budget, wide-ranging appeal, and of course the loyalty of the always-fickle fanbase.
>>1 Thought i was the only one who still watched Boston Legal.
Heroes is my new favourite show.
Once every 3 months they try to debunk the bible. They suck at it. Hillarity ensues. (I lolled at their "statistics" that "proved" that there were decent odds of Jesus being buried in a tomb in some apartment complex. Fuck, I knew better than to try their "statistical mthod" in high school.) Besides that, the "tomb" is literally encased in concrete so no one can go in there. Jeez, that's convienient -- the tomb of Jesus, but you can't go in it ever because it's under somebody's fucking house. Well, History Channel, the Tooth Fairy lives in a cave under my house. That I filled up with concrete. Here are my half assed statistics.
That and they love to say how Star Trek and Star Wars are ZOMG MAJOR CULTURAL EVENTS. Honestly, they're cool. I like them, but Leia's Cinnabon hairdo is NOT fucking history. Vietnam, sure. Ronald Reagan, yepprs. 9/11 changed the world. Star Wars was a movie. And Trek was just fucking TV.

Boston Legal and the Office are probably my favorite comedies. Ugly Betty just isn't funny. The actress for Betty is good, but there aren't any laughs.
Heros is great. Between Heros and Dr. Who, I think my scifi needs are mostly met. I never cared about BSG, the only part of the story that seems to make any sense is that the doctor is sexing up a Cylon. The rest seems fairly random. SG-1 and SG-Atlantis are stupid.
I'm excited about John Larroquette becoming a member of Boston Legal. There's a huge audience of Night Court fans who will also become BL fans, thus BL will get higher ratings. :)
Heroes is my favourite, season 1 was amazing, waiting eagarly for next, prison break was also good
Cool, I didn't know that. I'm hoping for a major Shat/Laroquette feud. That would be so awesome.
Maybe they should get the Night Court bum too, I don't remember his name, but he was pretty funny. Course, he's probably 70 years old by now.
MY WISH IS GRANTED. THE LAROQUETTE FEUD IS ON BITCHES! THEY BET ON A CASE ALREADY!
$50 on Shat, any takeers?
I wish I could say I made up the nick, but alas, he calls himself "The Shat". I'll never get it. i'd be insulted to be known as "the Shat", he's making a career of it.
Screw all your cool shows.
Foster's home for imaginary friends.
And scrubs.
my vote for best show goes to scrubs
SG1
or
Atlantis
Mythbusters, bitches.
I second Heroes.
I third Scrubs.
I nominate The Office.
>>23 I second The Office. Both British and American versions!
I love "Spaced": By the makers of "Shawn of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz". It's like "FRIENDS", but full of film and videogame references. Pity there's only 2 seasons...
SCRUBS
FRIENDS
SMALLVILLE
FATHER TED
HEROES
WILL AND GRACE
Monty Python's Flying Circus (WHY HAS NOBODY MENTIONED THIS SOONER), The IT Crowd, House, and Garth Marenghi's Darkplace.
flying doctors ... the Australian tv show from late 80s is a fav
so it got a little crappy after kate a geoff got their child YES
but overall its awesome
Fawlty Towers, Blackadder..
i think British comedy is kinda unique in the sense of humour. Luckily I get it because I'm British.
I'm English. Mighty Boosh is alright and nobody has mentioned it yet. I much prefer listening to the radio episodes, much stronger feeling that it was all ad-libbed. Then series 1 and 2 were quite good. Series 3 has gone off a bit though.
Amazingly, nobody has managed to mention Twin Peaks yet.
<丶`Д´>っ-̾̾ Maybe ya'll should get off the couch and go out to read a book.

I sort of thought series three ended up bashing on Howard too hard. I mean, they always did, but it just seemed meaner and less funny somehow. Also, they rely on the shock of swears too much.
How did no one mention Arrested Development yet?
