I decided to give Bleach one more episode. Watching episode 60 has removed all doubt that Bleach has bas become one of the worst anime I've ever seen. It started off very good with great chacraters and you've gotta love Rukia giving the background info in crayon drawings. As I've said so many times before the good ended when Rukia got captured.

I now have such disgust for Bleach that I will no longer warn of spoilers. Episode 60 proves that watching Bleach is futile effort. Captian Aizen comes back from the dead to slap the audiance in the face. He then proceeds to kill Hinomori. He was just hiding his True Power(TM) which is make people under his spell experiance anything he wants. This removes the last shred of logic (and enjoyment) from this show.

Bleach now in the relm of Soap Operas and Professional Wrestling:

  1. No conflict ends without another to replace it.
  2. There is no real logic linking what has happened with what is happening or what will happened.
  3. There are too many loose story-threads left uncompleted. In Bleach it feel more like a bunch of half completed ideas that never really panned out.
  4. There is always something that hidden from the audiance. A "true" state of affairs that we (the audiance) aren't allowed to know.
  5. Fake/over blown negative emotions. Anger, jealousy, betrayal, hatred, and deciet are the order of the day. Positive emotions such as love, friendship, kindness, etc. are only used to increase the sting of a negative emotion. Hinomori's death at the hands of Captian Aizen made worse by the fact that she loved him.
  6. Extremely elaborate plans or traps. The Key phrase being "It was part of my plan all along!" This fits in with 4. where the audiance is made unaware of the plan and its execution until they need it to create more tension and over blown emotions.

Bleach/Soap Operas/Professional Wrestling are all aimed at people who have boring lives and feel like something is missing. The audiance is taken up by the problems of others that seem more real than thier own problems. I enjoy escapism as much as the next guy but how can I get a clear picture of the story when the Author himself doesn't?
