Bleach, now its just ridculous. [Possible Spoilers] (44)

I just saw Bleach ep. 49. WHAT THE HECK IS THIS GRABAGE!? They've found a way to make the entire story (I use the term loosely) since Rukia got captured worthless. It took one bloody sentance to ruin an entire season!

What sentence was that?

[SPOILER!!!!]

Kukichi Bonkura (oops, I mean Byakuya) said roughly "oh, he (Ichigo) wasn't my enemy all along." AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Bleach started with such potential. That made the let-down even more of a dissapointment.

Bleach is pretty much turning into DBZ.

...but I did watch all of DBZ, and other than the exaggeratedly long fights, liked it.

As for the line >>3 mentioned, it didn't ruin the series for me. He did still finish the fight with him, right?

[SPOILER!!!!]

In the Sentance in >>3 Kukichi Bonkura (sorry, force of habit, I meant Byakuya) is recognising the Ichigo also doesn't want to follow Soul Society's rules, so maybe they are on the same side.

DUH! BYAKUYA, YOU MORON!!!!! GET A CLUE!!! Of course the guy breaking a condemned prisoner from Soul Society's death row isn't too keen on following thier rules!

[END SPOILER!!!!]

This was a big slap on the face. I felt frusterated and pissed off for having wasted my time.

Yes, they are still on Namek but the planet's going to explode in 5 minutes. How many more episodes could there be?

Read the manga if you want to know what happens ahead of time. :p

Dragonball Z and Bleach share alot of plot devices.

  1. Absurd "training"
  2. The main character improves very quickly and achieves and unbelievable power level.
  3. The rest of th good guys are stronger than normal people but far inferior to the main character.
  4. There is a bad guy equivelent of the good guy. (VERY strong, weakling friends, etc.)
  5. Extreme slowing/expansion in the passage of time. In DBZ Namek was going to explode but they got a half season or more episodes out it. In Bleach the portal to Soul Society was only supposed to stay open for a few days.
  6. Characters can always keep going. Severe lacerations, trauma to head, massive blood loss, none of these are lethal. If you do die its okay because you can be resurected.
  7. There are various powers levels and there is ALWAYS a higher power level.
  8. There is a secret super-attack that bad guy holds back because he wants to look cool.

I wouldn't be at all shocked if Bonkura (darn it!, Byakuya) joined forces with Ichigo and pals. It's just like when Vegita joined Goku's group.

Bleach ran out of new material around when Rukia got captured and the rest of the series was just phoned in. They should just change the name of the show to "Bleah".

P.S. ever notice -> DBZ OBZ ORZ OTZ orz

Um, I don't know if you guys realize this, but shonen fight manga is a whole genre unto itself. All these typical plot devices are part of the rules. Nobody should be shocked when a shonen fighting manga starts to look like DB, because DB established all of these cliches.

15 Name: Random Anime Otaku 2005-12-04 05:44 ID:KXNSXH7C

Bleach started promising but the started running out of materal around the time Rukia got captured so they fell back on the "rules." Bleach could have been great but instead winds up just another Shonen Jump.

Come on, Bleach was like that from the beginning. There was never any attempt to present it as anything other than a typical shounen story.

What made (and makes) Bleach so good is that it's a superior example of this otherwise so cliché-ridden genre, with a depth of characterisation (in between the ridiculously excessive fight scenes, which are milked for every ounce of inherent humour) that surpasses most of the rest of the genre.

And the best part of it the ironic and quirky way that Kubo Tite tells the story. He's clearly having a lot of fun just making this story up, over and above the probably large sums of money (by mangaka standards) he must be pulling in.

17 Name: Random Anime Otaku 2005-12-05 01:27 ID:/GZPnk5x

90% of the character development was in the first half (before Ichigo and pals entered soul society) after that >>13 's rule 5 kicked in and the tedium went into full effect. If Bleach kept the pacing of the first half it would have been much better. Instead they stretched 4-5 episodes of material into 25-26 episodes.

>He's clearly having a lot of fun just making this story up...

Its not about how much fun the author is having, but how much fun the AUDIANCE is having. I stopped enjoying myself quite a while ago.

its good when you dont have to wait for the next episode to come out. oh Lunar, wheres #60?
on that note, i like to keep my subs consistent by not having episodes of an anime from different fansub groups.

This is exactly why I dislike mainstream and people who think they're "anime fans" simply because they watched Bleach, Naruto, and FMA.

20 Name: Random Anime Otaku 2005-12-16 04:57 ID:Wol0jr/O

if your comparing bleach and dbz... u can say this bout all other anime.. they all copy eachother in different ways... its just that bleach fits in the genre shounen is fun to watch because it builds u up

I decided to give Bleach one more episode. Watching episode 60 has removed all doubt that Bleach has bas become one of the worst anime I've ever seen. It started off very good with great chacraters and you've gotta love Rukia giving the background info in crayon drawings. As I've said so many times before the good ended when Rukia got captured.

I now have such disgust for Bleach that I will no longer warn of spoilers. Episode 60 proves that watching Bleach is futile effort. Captian Aizen comes back from the dead to slap the audiance in the face. He then proceeds to kill Hinomori. He was just hiding his True Power(TM) which is make people under his spell experiance anything he wants. This removes the last shred of logic (and enjoyment) from this show.

Bleach now in the relm of Soap Operas and Professional Wrestling:

  1. No conflict ends without another to replace it.
  2. There is no real logic linking what has happened with what is happening or what will happened.
  3. There are too many loose story-threads left uncompleted. In Bleach it feel more like a bunch of half completed ideas that never really panned out.
  4. There is always something that hidden from the audiance. A "true" state of affairs that we (the audiance) aren't allowed to know.
  5. Fake/over blown negative emotions. Anger, jealousy, betrayal, hatred, and deciet are the order of the day. Positive emotions such as love, friendship, kindness, etc. are only used to increase the sting of a negative emotion. Hinomori's death at the hands of Captian Aizen made worse by the fact that she loved him.
  6. Extremely elaborate plans or traps. The Key phrase being "It was part of my plan all along!" This fits in with 4. where the audiance is made unaware of the plan and its execution until they need it to create more tension and over blown emotions.

Bleach/Soap Operas/Professional Wrestling are all aimed at people who have boring lives and feel like something is missing. The audiance is taken up by the problems of others that seem more real than thier own problems. I enjoy escapism as much as the next guy but how can I get a clear picture of the story when the Author himself doesn't?

>There is no let-down.

Ok, I take that back.
Bleach_64 is branching out of the manga storyline, and it looks like it's gonna suck.

x Art style is different, everybody looks elongated now.
x Bodies proportions are off now and then.
x Much more static animation in this ep. Did the original animation team wandered off or what?
x Charas behave slightly OOC (Out Of Character). The writer who plotted this upcoming filler arc hasn't got the hang of the characters, it seems. Inoue wasn't that stupid in the original, for example.
x The same jokes, that were funny in the manga, are not funny anymore.

>>1 I'm on 46. I can't wait to see how much time I've wasted!

35 Name: Random Anime Otaku 2006-01-20 21:40 ID:Wee9m0g9

Well I don't know if it's because I watched a different translation, but Byakuya didn't say anything like that in my ep 49.

I don't think Bleach is dragging out battles and stuff half as bad as DBZ. DBZ carried ONE DAY on for like 30 episodes, while in Bleach they've been in Soul Society for a few days by now. Plus, the story is covering countless points of view -- different teams of characters from all sides of the battle. I think it's doing a good job of that.

But I won't deny it shares plenty of the plot devices other shounens do. And like others have said, every other shounen anime has most of those characteristics. Key word is SHARE! Or Namek.

36 Name: Random Anime Otaku 2006-01-24 10:03 ID:Heaven

TRUTH: OP was talking about episode 59, not 49.

38 Name: Random Anime Otaku 2006-01-31 18:50 ID:OiKzEMVk

Oops! >>36 is right, I meant episode 59 not 49. I honestly tried to give Bleach a fair shot. Episode 59 is the end of the big fight between Ichigo with his new Bankai powers that mysteriously appeared over night and Kukichi Bonkura (Byakyua!, I really should have that looked at)

39 Name: Sparda (Alex) : 2007-07-15 01:31 ID:beeRMbzL

Well everything u see is explained or shown it doesn't just appear out of nowhere like Idiot ID:OiKzEMVk said. Ichigo was traine dby the cat woman Yoruichi (watever the name is spelled) and then Shop owner make him do the 3day Bankai Training so thats how he learned Bankai from. did u even fucking watched the episodes before that? Bleach departed away a bit from the manga becuz the anime was catching up to it. They needed more time to wait for the manga to be printed to move on the plot. As of now 2007 July it folows exactly plotline as the manga only they r doing fillers becuz it caught on with the manga once again... That is why Naruto had fucking 3 seasons of fillers becuz they caught up with the manga way to fast n waited 3 season to fillers to do Shippuuden. Even then Shippuuden draws as much time as possible to give manga more time to continue the plot before catching up by making us wait 2 weeks per 30min episodes just to see fools doing few Bullshit moves to waste 30 fucking mins

There.. now all of u STFU for once becuz the anime is always on the damn time constraint becuz it was created during the serialization of the manga in the middle of its volumes.. and 1 episode = almost 1 volume of manga.. please STFU its all about time contraints thats why animes deviates from the plot to get more PLOT from the manga itself.. sometimes the manga is released is so damn slow the anime producers just decided that its just not enough material n scraps the project altogether.

It shouldn't take 49 episodes to figure out that a show is grabage (sic).

Heck, a show being longer then 26 episodes is itself a fairly good indicator that a show is garbage.
