Gantz *spoiler* (22)

i love this series, i believe the 2nd stage was by far the best 13 episodes from the series, the whole budda temple arc totally rocked, i hated what happened to Kato, it was depressing, didnt feel a thing when kishimoto died, sucked when that chick sei that liked Kei died though

anyone else love this show?

also from what i can gather, why does Gantz dislike Kei in the anime? he pits the whole ressurectees against him at first, singling him out as the target...

is it because he was trashing those statues like they were nothing?

also why the hell arent they making anymore, this series totally owns anything Gonzo are making

whyyyyyyyy

>why does Gantz dislike Kei in the anime?

The anime stopped making sense when it departed from the manga storyline.

i figured it was strange, you know when everyone dies, and the Gantz suddenly revives thoughs guys that were killed after the buddha temple episodes, and then says that Kurono was the target

Kurono pretty much had my expression, im like what the...

could it be when Kei put a gun to the man inside the Gantz balls head it was annoyed or something(you know when Kato died and Kei was crying because he lost his best freind in the whole world)

I don't think that Gantz cares for what people do, except when it interferes with his little killing aliens' game.
Also, I don't think that people can hurt him with his own weapons. Maybe with a knife, I dunno... But then, he can most likely regenerate himself.
But again, is Gantz really the man in the Ball? Why is he there unprotected if he doesn't want to be hurt?
Nah, the guy inside is probably an organic component to Gantz himself, used to tune up the machine and to give some organic feedback, like heat and sound. I think Gantz is the Ball itself.

But from what i saw from the ADV version

when Kurono and the newbies suit up and get sent to the town, these weird messages flash up, one of which "he puts guns to peoples heads"

you know what the first thing Kurono did when upset that he lost his friend.. he put a gun to the person inside the gantzs ball and fired though it had no effect

Gantz proberly thought he was far to cocky for his own good, and pretty much wanted him dead.. or singled him out since he was a veteran of 3 games

(like you said the anime making its own ending makes no sense, but i feel this seems plausable in some respects)

oh and i always thought of Gantz as some kind of God, or some higher being looking for some amusement, it has the power to bring peoples souls back to life from the dead, and even bring back people who have died already a while ago

where the people that have died go when killed in Gantzs games is anyones guess.. could it be when the messages come up, its actually from that persons mind, hooked up to the machine, or vice versa, since if im not mistaken, in the budda temple arc, cant remember which, when someone died or kei killed a statue in a cool way, the man inside grinned or smiled

Yeah in the anime Gantz is most likely to be the guy in the Ball.
And yeah in the anime Kurono thinks Gantz is working against him.
Which is kinda presumptuous - a mere human against a god-like being?

i believe Kurono was becoming more like Nishi, and when the games started he turned vicious, everyone saw that, but he did what he did to survive.. he thought he could take anything but was left powerless to defend the woman who loved him and his best friend kato, and they both died

i wouldnt blame him for thinking Gantz was against him, Gantz put them in a damn ridiculus game, with the odds sky high against them, didnt they kill like 13 or 14 statues?.. its like Gantz wanted no one to survive, or he could just respect Kuronos skills, i mean he took down the Colisal Statue, and is was so cool wasnt it...

..

it may of been a mere human against a god, but he was surviving, he wanted more, he was telling Gantz he could take anything he threw at him, Gantz obviously wanted to test this by having all those newbies fight him.. though not long after the game it was free for all though..

(and whats with all those signs... kill the kurono alien, he shoots people, he holds guns to their heads...)

and how was Gantz able to manipulate them to show them how they died in the very same room.. doesnt it make you kinda think they could be programmes existing on Gantz"s computer as real human beings, but he controls what happens to them.. it seems to me he was trying to provoke them all into thinking Kei was really an alien so they would kill him

It depends on the purpose of Gantz.
To get rid of all the aliens on Earth? Or just to play a game for his own amusement?

If it's a game, then he needs to balance the odds so that both sides have a chance to win, so he's gonna restrict the chances of his own team.

If it's to get rid of the aliens, then it depends on how many people died that day that he could enroll to fight. In the Buddha fight for example, there were a lot of troops that Gantz sent. Well, more than usual. Also, there is the possibility that he has limits in how many weapons he can supply at once.

to be honest, i dont know, but obviously to Gantz or the People playing, its a game, but the thing is, he isnt very open about what the targets are, since he always puts the easiest ones first to lure them into a false sense of security, and to assume they will be able to take down anything that comes there way.. the ball isnt honest , it should show all the targets but it doesnt

and if it wanted his team to survive, he shoulda gave them an instruction manual for those suits, i mean half the players have no idea what they do or how to use, while the vets do..

and also, it doesnt inform them of the enemys special abilitys that arent registered, for all we know, that budda statue that killed like everyone, could of had no abilitys... they just came out of nowhere, and thus killing anyone who was unfornuate to witness an unknown attack at first glance

i dont think Gantz has a limit , but he varys the weaponry, why they didnt use the trap gun on that golden statue at first is anyones guess

Somehow I can't think of Gantz as being evil intentionally.
So, maybe there is a reason the targets don't show all at once.
Like, maybe for the group to get a feel on the enemy's weapons and weaknesses. Yes someone gets blown off in the process, and Gantz doesn't care, his "logic" is that the real persons are already dead so no harm done.

No instruction manual, maybe because no one ever asked for it?
Possibly if one was to ask, Gantz would provide it. There have been times in the manga when Kurono haggled Gantz for something and got it in the end.

The trap/capture gun not used, how is that Gantz's fault? If I remember well in the Buddha story one guy tried the capture gun on a Buddha but the Buddha avoided it. The capture gun is likely to be used at the end only, on a weakened enemy, not as an all-around weapon, I think. It's a slow weapon.

Sling, the thing is, if you mysterously died say in your sleep, and woke up in an apartment, with 10 or so other ppl, what would your first reaction be? you get handed suits and guns, and by the time your putting them on, Gantz wants you to go, and im fairly certain, you wouldnt walk upto a Black ball with a guy inside if your new and unsure what in the worlds going on...

and you are correct, if you mean the golden statue with the acid, and lasers, i believe kato had to physically get him to slow down, but also the gun has a lock on function which follows the enemy, but doesnt neccesarly give you a total chance to capture..

but doesnt it seemed forced though Katos death, the statue was like half gone, and he pops out and stabs through the heart.....

im sure Gantz would of helped them, but my point is that most of them were way too stupid or just ordinary to even think to do so

i wonder why Gantz doesnt repair damage on buildings in the public area... since the whole budda temple got wide spread news coverage... was their any other kinds of mass destruction in the manga?

13 Name: Random Anime Otaku 2006-01-01 06:17 ID:vi/0P1QJ

further proof of the resurectees not knowing whats going on, is the ones that decide they are too arogant to suit up, and those of whoms head explode from leaving the game area, if Gantz provided more information, they proberly would of listened

14 Name: Sling!XD/uSlingU 2006-01-01 15:34 ID:UZpxVV5i

>what would your first reaction be?

I would sit tight and gather information while looking for the exit. :)
For sure I wouldn't want to go into a battle unless I really, really have to. It takes years for the Army to train a soldier. Draftees are the worst kind of soldiers, they are the first to go down in a war.

>was their any other kinds of mass destruction in the manga?

Yeah, plenty. Almost every time.
IIRC the media/officials blame it on unknown terrorists' attacks.

>if Gantz provided more information, they proberly would of listened

But he does give info.
AFAIK Gantz does his little speech every time (You are now dead, you belong to me, you play by my rules, go and fight the following aliens, here is the known data about them, etc.)

Hi Sling, i was wondering, does the manga follow as the anime did towards the end, you know after the buddha temple arc, do the same people get revived, but instead get placed into a different game?

if so howd it go

(happy new year btw.. just been having connection probs that prevented me from asking lol)

16 Name: Sling!XD/uSlingU 2006-01-06 03:12 ID:isDgY6R7

...a different game?
I don't remember that part. Ah!... Checking my files, I notice I don't have ep12, ep13, ep14. Maybe it happened there.
Anyway, no, no different game in the manga.
If that happened then it sounds to me like a cop-out by the anime writer trying to somehow please the fans of the ones who were killed. Bad idea, because the dead people's plot point is used in another way much, much later in the manga. The manga is still ongoing, BTW.

Nooo

i mean you know after the Buddha arc, and kei being the only one left alive

were the ressurectees that were in it for the final game you know in the anime, in it on the manga but in a different situation?

like keis teacher, the book store guy, the psycho boy and his friend, and the other ppl

Read the manga.. the anime made an entirely dfrnt ending from the conclusion of the Temple mission. The manga continued with Kei having an entirely new group of players as his team mates. Kei didn't die yet until shortly after Phase 2 of the manga when he was killed by the Vampires who turned his brother into a Vampire. After Kei's GF (Kojima) was kill Kei died later after her. Kato was brought back to life by the Old man using his 100 Points to revive Kato back for Kei's sake. Kato wanted to use his points to bring back Kei but Old Man told Kato that Kei didn't want to come back becuz his GF was killed and he didn't want to play Gantz game anymore becuz He gave up on surviving. Kato later brought back Keishimoto instead and then later Keishimoto brought back Neishi watever the hell his name is to get more info from him becuz he made blogs about Gantz (although the bomb didn't blew his head if he wrote about Gantz). Waiting on next Issue...
