Sorry, i don't think this is the right board, but just bare with me. First of all, I'm the an exec of my school's (recently founded) anime club. we're doing fine leaching dvd's off of the members for now, but most of them are weeaboo's and only have stuff FMA and bootlegs of naruto. We've been trying to get a setup with one of the members laptops, my external hdd, and one of the school's lcd projectors... without success. Anyway the point is, I just bought a dvd burner to back up my hdd anime collection, is there any (relatively easy) way to burn an episodic dvd from avi/mkv/ogm files? Help would be GREATLY appreciated
Decompile the MKV and OGM files. Use VirtualDub to save the wav files in uncompressed format. Frameserv the video to tmpgenc and create a DVD compatible mpeg2 file. Use SonicMyDVD to master your dvd.
Note: that's the EASY way.
Could someone explain that in a way that someone that has never burned/ripped a dvd could understand?

It's best to just try to find what you want in .avi (not mkv/ogm) and then use nero to burn it onto DVD. Only down side with tis easy way is that Nero might cut off the subtitles. What I do to prevent that (Now this is going to be a little more complicated) is I pirated a copy of TMPEG Xpress. With that, I was able to get the .avi files into the format for DVD (NOTE: the anime is not on the disc yet) and I use a widescreen resolution. This gives you the .avi files in a format for DVD's and (if done right) at a resolution so that the subs are not cut off. You take the outputted files from tmpeg and burn them using nero vision express. Hope that helps! ^_^
um, you use a laptop inbetween? just make data-dvds, i'd say.

Is that what you mean? If so, it's a highly inconvenient way of doing so in my opinion.
i got my Pc connmected to my Tv anyhoo its far better than wateing DVD's

We managed to get about 8 minutes through one of those discs at my local club...ADV send the club a promo disc every month with usually 2-3 full episode 1s and a bunch of trailers. All of the episodes have a "FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES ONLY" type watermark over the entire thing, and in our case, the disc crashed during playback.
FWIW, Geneon, CPM, Bandai and FUNimation also have club programs, except that they send you real DVDs (usually volume 1's or standalone films) and the club can choose what they get.

I finialy got it to work by ripping the audio from the avi into wave using virtualdub, converting the waves into mp2's using beesweet, combining the mp2's and original avi's to make avi's compatible with nero using tmpegenc, and finialy converting the avis dvd format and burning them to dvd with nero. i think i'm going to go to sleep now
