Otakon this year was horrible. The convention no longer caters to the fan but to the egos of it's staff. If a fan disagrees on their boards, they immediately shut them down. Why give them money? I've decided to ditch Otakon and save up for the superior convention Anime Expo and attend in the coming years. What do you think?
If you live on the East Coast, go to AWA. There is no better programming, though it doesn't have the big con and close to Japan advantages of AX.

Didn't go this year. I went once a while ago, when the streets were flooded by hydrants. Fire under the city, or something. This was also the year they were playing Battle Royale. I remember it being fun, but expensive.
I know someone who used to work there. She was pretty mellow. Maybe the old staff rotated out?
