Like NHK, Honey & Clover, Genshiken.
Maybe Maison Ikkoku, whch I've never seen, and Love Hina.
Know of any more?
Love Hina is hardly realistic in any way.
But if you liked Honey & Clover, you definitely want to check out Kare Kano and Bokura ga Ita. Both have slightly younger casts, but are stylistically similar.
As far as Maison Ikkoku's concerned, read the manga instead of the anime. It's not great, but the manga is WONDERFUL. Personally my favorite. As of a few months ago, it's all been released in English.
I can also recommend Kare Kano, although the characters are indeed a bit younger than 20.
Hataraki Man. I think maybe Diamond Dust Drops. Oh, and that one whose translated title is Rumbling Hearts.

If you're gonna watch Kare Kano watch up to ep 18 and then drop it, the last episodes are kinda filler and GAINAX running out of cash
The only real filler ep is 25. The rest are all very decent.
How could I forget Bartender. You have to see that for sure.
>Love Hina is hardly realistic in any way.
I know. I only listed it under "maybe" because it fit the age requirement. :p
As for Maison Ikkoku, I did read a few random volumes of the manga a few years ago. Too lazy to figure out which and read the rest.
I saw all of Kare Kano, Diamond Dust Drops, and Rumbling Hearts. Guess I'll check out Hataraki Man and Bokura ga Ita.
>How could I forget Bartender. You have to see that for sure.
Are you serious? Everything that I've heard about Bartender was bad.
Bartender is VIP quality.
> Are you serious? Everything that I've heard about Bartender was bad.
Everything you heard was wrong, though.

You will like Monster
The Nodame Cantabile anime is coming up this winter season. If it's as good as the drama it'll be a must-see.
The Animation Runner Kuromi OVAs also come to mind, although they lean towards exagerrated slapstick.
Are you too lazy to read manga in general? The genre is a lot less popular in animation, so there's a lot more of this type of story in print. For example, Living Game, about a guy in a struggling small company and his eccentric co-workers. The whole story has been scanlated.
>You will like Monster
I've seen some of Monster, and I mean to finish it... seems like a completely different genre, though.
>Are you too lazy to read manga in general?
Not really, but I prefer to buy the actual manga volumes (or checking them out from the library) to read them. It feels weird reading off the computer.
I suppose manga suggestions would be fine, too.
Update:
Nodame Cantabile is looking great. I forgot about it, but then I joined my school's anime club and they were showing it.
Hataraki Man - ...I actually forgot about this until now.
Kare Kano - read all of the manga as well, since my sister had it.
Bokura ga Ita - Saw one or two eps... I didn't quite like it but I might watch more later.
Maison Ikkoku - I need to remember to buy this.
Bartender - Uhh... the episode I saw seemed to be more about alcohol.
Animation Runner Kuromi - I still need to look for this.
Paradise Kiss - Not quite my style, though I've seen a few eps.
Oh My Goddess - Dunno if thos is realistic either, but I've only read some of the manga.
Moyashimon - New show. Promising. Not really realistic.

This season, there's also a new You're Under Arrest TV anime. Workplace comedy about eccentric traffic cops.
Mahoraba (a series superficially similar to Love Hina) might be worth checking out. It's not wholly realistic but is considerably more down to earth then most comedies of its type. Also has very nice slice-of-life moments.
Character age is questionable though. Some characters are 20, some characters are 16, but all of them look 12.

Sold!
Apologies for ageing an old thread, but have any more been released since? I have watched/read just about everything ITT.
Someone from 2006 really exists on the internet? And here I was thinking we were awash with facebookers and kids who get given macbooks for their birthday.
I can't attest to any of these series, but if you use anidb you can search shows via tags. One of these tags is "college" which describes shows based around college-age kids.
That's the link, when you search for other stuff, be sure to check the "ignore synonyms" box so that you don't get the same results in every other non-english language.
Of the more recent shows listed in that link that sounds close to what you may like is Bakuman. It's like Genshiken but less otaku culture and more Manga/Relationships.
Age for self-interest.
Well, I've had a look through my collection, and much to my surprise, the only show I've seen that even comes close and has not been mentioned here is Yomigaeru Sora: Rescue Wings. That one is a pretty realistic drama about a JASDF helicopter rescue squad, set at the real JASDF Komatsu base in Ishikawa prefecture.
