Lucky Star Sucks (30, permasaged)

I kinda stumbled into it, thinking it was going to be more like Azumanga Daioh, kinda simple slice of life type format.... And for a while, it was entertaining watching girls speculate about the idiosyncratic natures of people and the weird little things that seem to be for the sake of being. The Lucky Channel segments were hilarious to boot, and I liked some of the old anime references. And then it went super nerd-a-thon, and it just lost the appeal to me.... They expanded the cast by, what, 6, 7 girls, and 4 were variations of Konata. None of these girls brought anything fresh to the show, and only served to cut airtime away from the original bunch.

Maybe it's me, but it seems like the loudest message in all of in the second half of the show is that otaku have no sense of priority or responsibility, value anime and comics over personal relationships, bide their time by fawning over girls with common identifiable traits that make them attractive, and celebrate this because it separates them from what is called "The Mainstream." And I dunno, I see this message about what is otakuism, and I wonder, is it really okay to be okay with that, and to love this show because of it?
