sub group reccomendations (52)

I never know who to go with when theres multiple groups subbing something.

Right now it's Minami-ke ~Okawari~.
I'd watch Ayako's but they don't have .avi and my comp doesn't handle .mkv well.

Try Ubuntu. If you have any problems just use google, that's exactly what I did.

Have you tried to install CCCP then using MPC?

6 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-01-27 12:23 ID:Heaven

H.264 only requires around 1GHz of computing power. The only people with a legitimate reason to complain about it are people using set-top boxes to play videos which can't play it (including people who use XBMC for that purpose.)

7 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-01-28 15:28 ID:Heaven

>>6

That's pretty much completely untrue. Even if it was true, lots of people have machines slower than 1 GHz. This may come as a surprise to you, but not all anime fans are gamer nerds who constantly upgrade their machine. I'd go as far as saying that a vast majority aren't.

>>7
The overwhelming majority of computers used by people who know enough about computers to use torrents have more than 1GB. It's your problem if you choose to stick with an underpowered machine when the rest of the world settles on better minimal requirements.

9 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-01-28 22:29 ID:8ACt1EO4

1GHZ at LEAST is pretty much standard for any decent computer that's been built in the last couple years.

10 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-01-28 23:52 ID:IvCLMZKl

I have 2.4 Ghz, but only 512 RAM...
And as I said, I am poor and cannot afford to upgrade.

Also no one answered on which group beside ayako is the best for Minami-ke ~Okawari~

So what if they aren't? My current computer is 3 years old, and it's still more than twice that speed.

12 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-01-29 13:43 ID:Heaven

>>8

You do not need to know much about computers to use torrents. Neither does knowing much about computers mean you obsessively upgrade your machine.

>>9

Lots and lots of computers that are in use were not built in the last couple years. That was kind of the point, not everybody builds new computers all the time.

Both of you are still stuck in the teenage nerd mindset where you refuse to acknowledge that there are many people out there who do not act like you.

13 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-01-31 21:23 ID:IvCLMZKl

Nobody answered the actual question...

14 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-01-31 21:46 ID:Heaven

This because it was a shitty question.

You're the one making a fool out of yourself.

You want to watch a CURRENTLY AIRING SHOW, of course it's gonna be encoded using the best current technology, since it allows those of use who can get bothered to buy even the cheapest Dell box to enjoy a quality that would never have been possible with older hardware.

People like you only deserve 4th generation VHS. And would probably enjoy them.

> You want to watch a CURRENTLY AIRING SHOW, of course it's gonna be encoded using the best current technology

Er, no, that does not follow in any way. If those encoding actually care about people watching the stuff they release, it will be encoded with the technology that the most people can actually watch.

17 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-02-01 12:53 ID:Heaven

And that technology was AVI... two years ago.

18 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-02-01 12:54 ID:JjIvKCdn

Converting MKV+H.264 through to AVI+DIVX isn't particularly hard actually. You can use mencoder to do it fairly easily, presumably Winblows has an equivalent tool.

...I've encoded h264 videos with 2.2 GHz and 512 ram.

I've played h264 at ~70% CPU on 800mhz P3 Celerons.

Let me tell you, 2.4 Ghz is more than enough CPU to play H264. The ram should also be fine, but if not you can probably find anther 512 MB for what, $15?

What have you tried to play it with, may I ask? Player? Codecs installed?

>If those encoding actually care about people watching the stuff they release, it will be encoded with the technology that the most people can actually watch.

I encode things like I want to watch them, and how I think other people want to watch them. Lemme tell you, most people who care, the ones who actually care about video quality and strongly voice opinions, are the ones who are all for H.264.

Most of the people who complain (which is getting smaller and smaller in number) usually haven't taken the steps to try and configure stuff right.

Those people are also very much a minority.

>>20

No, they can not. If you think they can, try spending some time around real people instead of IRC people.

23 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-02-01 19:13 ID:U10e/5j5

>Those people are also very much a minority.

Probably. But they're certainly larger in number and more vocal than the people who complain against it.

>No, they can not. If you think they can, try spending some time around real people instead of IRC people.

Nowadays most people probably have the power to watch HD H.264 MKV. They just lack the knowledge to do so, though.

24 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-02-01 20:05 ID:Heaven

> No, they can not. If you think they can, try spending some time around real people instead of IRC people.

Stop trying to win this argument by insulting people when you just don't know what the fuck you are talking about.

Most people actually replace their computers too often because they can't fix them - sometimes even replacing them because of stupid malware issues.

On most computers, including computer much less powerful than yours if you're that 2.4 Ghz guy, you can simply slap CCCP on it, which is a braindead simple deal (run setup.exe then press the "next >" button a few times) then use MPC to watch any damn MKV animu without any issues.

25 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-02-02 01:50 ID:IvCLMZKl

I use Media Player Classic, I have CCCP.
The video still lags up...

Well i'm sticking with Ayako now.
But X_X was fine so far too. There are also avi encodes for them.

Have you run a spyware scanner recently?

Also I think another 512MB stick of RAM would be like 10 bucks. Go wash someone's car or mow their lawn.

i would like to inform people that i have founded my own subbing group, so please help us spread the word!!i hope u enjoy it!!hhtp://devilzown.co.nr or http://devilzown.we.bs
The name of the gruop is DevilzOwn Subs.

29 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-03-08 20:33 ID:kgx9ON0f

Do they even sell 512 ram anymore?

Somehow I am not all that excited about a subbing ground run by some teenager.

31 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-03-10 00:43 ID:CTFWI573

>>28 the spelling mistakes in your post make me wary of any subbing group you might run. But good luck all the same.

32 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-03-10 09:52 ID:Heaven

It is my duty to mention that I checked out some other show subbed by X_X very recently, and that their English sucks balls.

33 Name: alisial3 : 2008-03-12 07:48 ID:sKA/GlgB

First of all, I am not a teenager, and second, I wasn't making mistake, that's internet language (chatting lang.), and third, I only recommended it, and I am not forcing you to go there, so you don't have to pick on every single mistake! Thank You!

34 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-03-12 15:06 ID:Heaven

>>33

Nobody but a teenager would name anything "DevilzOwn".

35 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-03-12 23:45 ID:Heaven

( ・-・) I love this thread so much!

36 Name: alisial3 : 2008-03-13 08:33 ID:sKA/GlgB

DevilzOwn was a public(online) decided name for the group and I cannot make any changes to it. If you people don't like it, I am not forcing you and we are not charging people anything to watch our subs. We are only subbing because of personal interest and If you don't even get a little support, then we may re-think about it.

37 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-03-13 12:10 ID:Heaven

>>36

Then rethink it, because you won't.

38 Name: alisial3 : 2008-03-13 13:06 ID:o9v072h5

If you wish so, then I hereby by disband DevilzOwn Subs. right now, and the website will go down after a while of inactivity. It is not our loss but yours'.

39 Name: alisial3 : 2008-03-13 13:09 ID:o9v072h5

And yes, we did have some support, 2 people even donated to the website. But now all is in vain, and i will have to return their donation, all because of you!

40 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-03-13 14:05 ID:U10e/5j5

lol

so how old are you?

42 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-03-13 17:52 ID:yHJTXdPN

PS: your site is horrible. It looks like a 12 year old made it in the early 00s.

And your group name sucks.

And lastly, your choice of shows. Why not add "Dragon Ball Z" to the list as well?

Seriously, I hope you're a troll.

43 Name: alisial : 2008-03-21 19:12 ID:toVcyaei

cuz dragon ballz is old.

44 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-03-22 02:31 ID:Heaven

Here's a hint: Good fansubbing groups are created because people want to actually translate something. They are not started because they want to create a translation group.

45 Name: alisial3 : 2008-03-23 04:04 ID:8icwYaqK

um..we wanted to gain some experience in translation n thoght it mite be fun to start by subbing peoples favourite anime

46 Name: alisial3 : 2008-03-23 04:06 ID:8icwYaqK

fuck u man...n u kall urself an otaku!!

47 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-03-23 04:21 ID:oF+I0Na1

>>46
lol

48 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-03-23 13:08 ID:Heaven

I have the exact opposite problem. I have a series I want to translate (Oishinbo) but I can't do the translation myself and I don't have access to raws anyway.

49 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-03-23 23:37 ID:Heaven

>>45

You get "experience in translation" by taking some fucking classes.

You might want to start with some English classes.

50 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-03-23 23:38 ID:Heaven

>>48

Then you're pretty much useless, aren't you?

51 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-03-24 10:59 ID:Heaven

>>50 Not really, given that about 95% of groups have serious editing problems which a decent editor could solve.

52 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-03-25 00:37 ID:Heaven

>>51

Seriously, that's the easiest job of them all. There's a about a billion candidates for that position. Of course, most of them will do a shitty job, but so will you if you don't have some decent language skills in both languages.
