Gameboy AC adapter (7)

I'm looking for an AC adapter for an old fat-bastard Gameboy, but versions for the GB Pocket and Color are much easier to come by - are they compatible with the original?

I don't know about what you're asking, but I had an AC adapter for the original Gameboy and whenever I used it it kept cutting out and randomly resetting, not often, but every couple of hours or so which was just enough to make it unusable. So I can't exactly recommend it though it could just be mine. If I get a chance I'll look to see if the power inputs are the same.

I've just looked at the power inputs for my GB and GB Pocket, and they're different. They're a different size, also the original "fat-bastard" requires 6V and the GBP uses 3V.

So my guess is no, you won't be able to use a GB Pocket adapter with an original Game Boy.

The lengths I go to to help random people on the internet...

Thanks. Suppose it makes sense that the original takes 6V and the Pocket 3V, since the original uses four 1.5v batteries as opposed to the Pocket's two.

The old gameboy can work fine with a ordinary multi-volt adapter. Mine did. Just make sure to set the voltage and polarity settings correctly before plugging it in. The gameboy's AC adapter socket is actually much more common (same size portable CD players used at the time) than GB Pocket or GB Color's.
