Discuss all of the games you regret buying.
Currently, I regret buying Dungeons and Dragons Tactics for the PSP. The multiplayer is lame, which is the very core of D&D. It's basically a watered down version of the game that you play on your own. Wow. Amazing.
fuck NDS

Because hard drive space isn't an issue with consoles. That's why there are like three kinds of PS3, each differing in the amount of hard drive space.
Oblivion for me (I know, I know, odd choice). Meh, just got really boring... Plus, it took me a whole lotta money to get it to run on my computer.
>>102
It's an artificial issue. What console game needs to have 80 GB of disk space to run? It's not installing anything.
That's bullshit. Some console games recently have had installed parts.
I regret buying Driver for the PlayStation. I paid $50 for that damn game, then took it home and couldn't actually play it, because I couldn't pass the driving test at the beginning. The slalom got me every time.
Obviously, the game was intended for an audience more skilled than myself. :(

pre-ordering neverwinter nights was the second worst thing i've ever done as a gamer. gather some items, kill some poeple, find the key to the boss, help people along the way rinse and repeat for the next 4 acts of the game. gg n00bs. i also have to say that Diablo 2 was a bad choice of game. the first two years of my high school career went into that game, then i got my acct deleted tear meph bots ftl. but i'd have to say the worst choice as far as gamer was chex quest. yeah i actually sent in the upc's for that pice of shit. didn't even make it to the first enemy before i walked away from it.
Unlimited Saga, which I bought for the trailer for FFX-2.
I should also add that FFX-2 is somewhere on the list of games I regret buying, but US is by far the worst.
> neverwinter nights
I couldn't get through it without triggering a bug that caused all townspeople to become permanently hostile.
What the hell?!
Thankfully the expansions were at least passable.
> Diablo 2
You and me both, brother.
> chex quest. yeah i actually sent in the upc's for that pice of shit.
I think you've just done won the thread.
> chex quest. yeah i actually sent in the upc's for that pice of shit
you can download that for free at the-underdogs - if you want to?
> Thankfully the expansions were at least passable.
I found the main game passable.
On the other hand, one of the expansions had a puzzle where the levers wouldn't move until you installed the patch to fix it (it was some levers right after a puzzle where you would teleport between platforms, or something like that.)
Hit and miss on some of those titles for me. I enjoyed MOHAA. The other MOH games, was rather disappointing. I looked into the new one, can't remember the bloody name, but you need a 4ghz processor. WTF EA! not everyone buys fucking alienware for fucks sake! FU EA! Even with my new computer, I CAN'T PLAY IT! I can play everything else, just not the new one. Back to the topic at hand (tldr?) CS for xbx and Sonic Heros. Fuck... WASTE OF MONEY ON that friggan sonic game. I had fun with Sonic adventure on my DC and Sonic Adventure 2, but this one... I hate it. I paid full price. (I know, I'm a sucker) Final Fantasy; CC, I enjoyed the multiplayer. When my friends were friends and now I can't find anyone with a GBA or GBA;SP to play it with. I know one person who would like to play it with me, but he needs to get a GBA. Another game is... hell.. any PC FPS games with large-scale multi-player. Cheaters killing cheaters, with honest players caught in the fucking middle. I now play them in single player only. As for the N64? Perfect Dark. The gameplay was great. The framerate drove me nuts.
>>89 I like the idea, but yes, monopoly ect. ect. ect. Besides, with Sony wanting to keep fans by "wanting to be unique" compared to their competition, (IE "our versions of games are only slightly different from the same games on other consoles"), they will most likely appose such an idea. FYI, I'm not bashing Sony Fans.
>>66
probably gave you headaches because its crraazzzyy. <3 that game..
Final Fantasy XII.
I probably would have liked it if it didn't have the massive failure of the combat system. Hey guys, so like. I can pretty much watch you fight? great.
About a year ago, I did more review-reading and comparing than usual before deciding which "newish" Sonic game to buy, and so I bought Sonic Heroes for the PS2...
Needless to say, I should have bought the Mega Collection (which featured ports of the Sega Genesis games).
Dark Cloud 2. Not only did I give my character the faggy pink clothes, I also can't beat the first boss.
haven't played it yet - although i do own it. after a few levels of Dark Cloud 1 i started to get a little bored of the same old. last time I left, i think I was... at the beach\\undersea dungeon? I guess i just dislike having to level my weapons in any game to do well. Disgaea is different, they don't evolve, and if you don't wanna level them, you can just buy a better one.
It was great. I used to only be able to eat a sandwich with one hand while playing an FF game, but now I could use both hands.
i can't wait to get into FFXII. i really like the new gambit system. it's not like you can't stop the action and set things if you really want to, or take over a different character. most of the time you don't want to be looking out for them anyway, I'm glad they can attack on their own. It's like a single player FFXI, except now your team mates will actually listen to you.
Soulcalibur Legends... It was not for the lulz, but for my brother. I was doing it wrong. A failure is I.
;_;
hold out, 121... Brawl is coming... THE MESSIAH IS COMING!!! AND SOON ALL THE UNBELIEVERS WILL BE SMOTEN!
wait a minute... where the hell are you buying a Gaming PC for less than 600 bucks?
Make it yourself and it can easily cost under $600.
ugh, but it's so much work...
I find the work within bounds of a reasonable sunday morning task, my issue is that almost every time I buy a stack of hardware, one part doesn't work properly and I end up having to walk back to the store to get a new one. Due to this I am becoming less and less willing to build my own computers, although what I do now is still choose the parts but pay the fee for the shop to put it together (then they find things wrong with it, and swap on the spot. Much less fuckaround. Although you can't get them to install the OS, unless you happen to want to run Windows.)
Magna Carta: Tears of Blood. nuff said
Magna Carta: Tears of Blood
i cant think of one good thing about this game
not even the girls are all that pretty...
the young boy [forgot the name]
and even the main guy looks better than the female chars
I wonder how many people have said that so far...
Wow, is Magna Carta that bad? I thought it looked ok. Hmm, I almost bought it. What exactly makes it a bad game?
7 Blades.
Although only for £2.50.
North American version of Harvest Moon DS. Glitchy piece of shit.
Although I suppose I should expect glitch and bug filled games from Natsume at this point.
>>132
I liked the first Harvest Moon, but have refrained from trying any of the others due to their reputation for buggy releases.
i wish i had Harvest Moon for the Snes, but i'd never actively buy it on Ebay. damn you pawn shops! convince people to sell their awesome SNES games for bottom of the barrel prices!!!
final fantasy 12
reasons why
1.i dont like the english voice actors
2.i dont like the main guy Vaan
3.i dont like the license board system
4.i dont like the gambit system
5.i dont like the big, skilltrees u have to go trough when you want to use a skill, magic, item
6.i dont like the story ...too much nonsense
7.i dont like the music that much i think its the worst ff music
Hi, I'm >>135
I also hate life, puppies, kittens, sex, and sunshine.
I even hate Squeaks, Moot, W.T. Snacks, and Chuck Norris.
>>136 so i cant say bad things about final fantasy?
i used to like square back on NES and SNES ff7 was ok but it was far too easy and i even liked ff9
im not a fanboy...and i did not like ff12
i liked ff9 as well. you weren't saying bad things about Final fantasy in general or anything, you were just giving your opinion why didn't like FF12. I was just saying that, of course you wouldn't like FF12 - you don't even like Chuck Norris.
Final fantasy is the Godwin point of gamer discussions. Especially FF7, which did suck hard, indeed.
Are you 10? Seriously. The gambit system was fucking AMAZING. I didn't even like 12 and I'll say that I loved the gambit system.
shaq fu for the SNES. it gives you blisters
I love final fantasy as if it were a part of my own soul, and many even call me a squaretoku (pun intended), but I really...really hate Crystal Cronicles...
Crystal Chronicles and Tactics are the only two FF games I will acknowledge.
Haven't played the Tactics on PSP yet though. Is it good?
It's the same damn game.
Is it? Why did they bother releasing it then, when there is already a PS1 emulator?
$$$
because they wanted to re-release it it something PORTABLE? the PSP is like a handheld PS1, or did you not understand this? Why make more PS1 copies when they can rerelease it for a system they'd actually like to promote. Actually, it's about time FFT got some recognition. still don't have a PSP tho.
Why buy FFT on PSP when we were already able to play it before they released it, is all I'm saying.
because some people weren't around for it the first time, bro.
capcom fighting jam
HORRIBLE GAME
I regret getting Enteral Saga. I played it twice, and I hate it. I thought it would be fun D: I guess I'm wrong
>>150 Those people could use the emulated version on PSP. The new one appears to only add extra FMV, which adds nothing to a game.
>>153 But what about the newer classes?
And...
And...
Those are about the only new things I can think of.
FF:Mystical Quest and Biohazard for the SNES. I'm a bad man.
makai kingdom PAL version
la pucelle PAL version
i cant stand the horrible english voiceactors
im sure EU use the allready translated US versions of the games
but to make it more interesting THEY REMOVE THE ORIGINAL VOICE
thank you
Breath of fire 4.
I regret buying assassins creed. It was WAAAAY to repetitive for my tastes.
Breath of fire V
Unlimited SaGa
Suikoden IV
My Bottom 5 least favorite games I have ever bought, in order in terms of waste of money:
1) Age of Sail 2 (PC) More bugs than a Warner Bros. animation marathon
2) Suikoden III (PS2) The fixed camera position doomed this game from the start
3) Age of Pirates (PC) Uncontrollable land adventure
4) Valhalla Knights (PSP) Repetitive and boring hack-n-slash RPG
5) LEGO Star Wars II (PC) (I love the PSP version, though) Uncontrollable in the PC version, even with a mouse
TF2, I was really hype for this as a big TFC fan, but the game doesn't deliver. I really like the look, it just plays like shit.
Another recent one would be C&C3, it just wasn't very good, and the multiplayer sucked.
Sonic Rush
>>Sonic Rush
die.
Sonic 3D Blast
Batman Forever
Spectrobes(I hate this game with a passion)
Bloody Roar3
GTA vice city
Ghost In The Shell
pool of radiance ruins of myth drannor
skeletons skeletons skeletons
undead crap...
hack hack slash booooring craaaaaaaap
>pool of radiance ruins of myth drannor
wait... some people actually did buy this?
I regret dumping so much time into Guild Wars before starting on WoW... simple.
I don't think Magna Carta was as bad as people say it was despite the TERRIBLE opening song. I can think of a lot worse RPGs out there.
As much as I hate to admit it, Unlimited Saga was one of them. No matter how much I tried to love the game and it's quirks I just couldn't play it no matter how much I tried to like it.
>>169 Normally one would regret switching to WoW.
Devil May Cry.
I still have not beeat the first boss, that fiery tarantula thing.
Army of Two.
The game was cool at first, but your partner AI slowly gets stupider, and the game transforms into a Gears of War clone.
>>167
lawl did your harddrive get formatted?
in b4 Battletoads
More seriously, I regret buying Lucasarts' "Secret Weapons over Normandy."
From the title, I thought it would be a sort-of-sequel to their fun-yet-weird early 1990s DOS flight sim "Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe." SWotL was a surprisingly detailed flight sim for its day and has a cult following even now of people who keep it installed on an old 486 desktop machine and continue hacking the flight model files and sprites.
Instead it was this simpleminded arcade shootemup thing, gorgeous to look at but oversimplified to the point of being a sort of beautiful 3D-rendered 1980s arcade game. It pretends to be a flight sim, yet how can you even have a pretense of being a flight sim when you can't even see the instrument panel? Arcade shootemup pew pew pew, kablooey! Feh.
No More Heroes.
I really, really wanted to love that game, but I just couldn't get into it. I think it's because I tend to roleplay/get in the mindset of the character I'm playing in a game, which makes it hard for me to play "bad" characters in any game.
Plus, you know, pressing the A button over and over gets old.
Driving around what they call a "free world" sucks huge dick.
The only redeeming quality of that game was the humor.
>Plus, you know, pressing the A button over and over gets old.
>>178 Perhaps the said could be said of all video games.
Certainly all Atari video games.
Star Trek Legacy for PC.
>>178 Sure, but I'm really guessing you haven't played No More Heroes. You seriously press A until the fight is over, no other thinking involved.
Before someone says "WELL YOU HAVE TO SWING THE REMOTE FOR A FINISHER"
No, you don't. It only ends the fight quicker, letting you avoid pressing the A button THAT MANY MORE FUCKING TIMES.
no more heroes was shit i agree
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
and full of boring nonsense
TV,Gamemagazines, and so on SOLD this game
kinda like the horrible shitcrap
THE WORLD ENDS WITH YOU
>>181 I own it actually :/
There was more there than pressing A such as High position / Low Position and the wrestling moves as well. There's a couple triggers that slow down time during a sidestep as well. I don't think the combat system was as bad as you're making it out to me as much as the combat system really didn't get a chance to shine. Outside of boss battles and those annoy beam saber guys the rest of the game was boring cannon fodder on a cool stage such as the bus or landmine infested beach.
Honestly though, if you're complaining about pressing the same button over and over, why are you playing video games?
>>158
Assassins Creed was pure shit, but I always have liked the Prince of Persia series. Creed gets boring after only a few hours.
When I played No More Heroes I was relieved to play a game with style again (not neccesarily graphics-wise). Sadly, the majority of games seem to lack this charm.
Unreal Tournament 3. They took everything that made UT2k4 good and threw it away, and instead just added unlinked nodes to Onslaught, and changed the art direction to some ugly futuristic style with excessive bloom and brown everywhere. Warfare is NOTHING like assault mode, that was a flat-out lie.
Star Ocean 3..."Wallow in despair!!!"x 5 bagillion times at the end fight >.<
I have to agree, Star Trek Legacy is the WORST game I ever actually bought. I was a huge Starfleet command player, love that game, and I thought Legacy was going to be what Starfleet command 3 wasn't. I ended up spending a whole 10 minutes on the game and shelving it.
And I have to disagree, Creed is pretty good. Not OMGWTF great, but good.
Dirge of Cerebus
Halo 3
FF:RoF.
Uh, Getting Up; it's some spray-painting game about overthrowing the government or some shit.
Tenchu Z.
Need for Speed ProStreet
need for semen proalley
Shadow Run
on a lark i bought DragonBVall Z: Sagas on a lark. after a few rounds, i was like, wtf is this?
Grand Theft Auto IV: too short, lame side missions and ALOT of things were cut off like no barber(so no real customization), too little clothes,etc...San Andreas was more fun. LAst time i ever buy a GTA title, i don't care how big the hype is.
>>198
i agree
200 get
also - that brave fencer musashi (the newer one) i thought It would be like the older one, but i was mistaken... Did they even playtest?
